i searched and i didn't find a topic about this.

is anyone going to see this movie?

it's about these two guys, cowboys, in 1963 and they fall in love. but they both have a wife. they try to keep it a secret and stuff. i don't know, it looks pretty cool. especially if you're a jake gyllenhaal or heath ledger fan.

no its wide release^

heres a trailer of it

click

oh, i was wondering why they got so close to eachother lmao, i was like "whats up with Jake?" lol. my dad will get freaked out about it because there is homosexuality in it rolleyes.gif haha. jake and heath arent afraid to play gay, i respect that.

Jake gyllenhaal is busy lately huh? so far its: Jar head, proof, and broke back mountain. all seem like pretty good movies. i think brokeback may go for an oscar =/ it seems like that type of movie. but im more excited about jarhead haha

I know Ang Lee directed it, he has such movies to his name as the beautiful Crouching tiger, hidden dragon and the unforgettable (if yet horrid) Hulk I've heard about this mysterious book, but no one seems to name it or the author. I would love to know. I think it might have been based on a short story maybe? Does anyone here know?

Just got home from seeing it a while ago. Wasn't as great as it was hyped up to be, but it wasn't bad either. Heath Ledger/Essin's accent sucked, though. Pretty sad movie. Nothing that made it stand out too much, though--just that it was a movie about two homosexuals.

Kudos to Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal for having the balls to play gay characters, though. :)

Its funny. Being a gay guy I guess I should see it as its probably one of the few big movies featuring a gay couple. But I don't know. At first I really wanted to see it. But now seeing the trailers it looks like another "Romeo&Juliet"-esque love story. Except instead of being two rival families its two married gay men. I'll probably see it eventually but I'm not getting my hopes up and I'm not rushing out to see it.

It was good. True, not as good as most made it seem, but it was definitely good. Sweet. Sad. All that stuff.

Yeah, Heath's accent sucked, but gosh, I was never attracted to him before this movie. ehh...ok.

I finally saw it a week or so ago, and I personally liked it. I thought it was a pretty good movie. Pretty good storyline I thought anyways.

I want to see it, but I don't want to see the gay scenes because I don't find Jake Gyllenhall(sp) attractive. (lol I'm so mean). If he was just emo...

It is a good movie. It brought a couple of tears to my eyes, as well. I'm such a sap.

But still. An unrequited love. How romantically tragic!

It was good. True, not as good as most made it seem, but it was definitely good. Sweet. Sad. All that stuff.

Yeah, Heath's accent sucked, but gosh, I was never attracted to him before this movie. ehh...ok.

I think his accent was tottally on actually, I love in Texas and I see a lot of men who act, talk, and walk like that. The way Ang Lee portrayed life, REAL life was beautiful, dead on, and horribly saddening.

Exactly. I completely agree. thumbsup.gif

But yeah, I didn't know Anne Hathaway was in it, I found that cool/interesting.

I've seen brokeback. It's rather crappy. I was sorta hoping there'd be a confession first before the tent scene. The screenplay was crappy. It focused too much on the story that they have forgotten to make the whole picture beautiful. Critics are gay which is why the movie is critically acclaimed. It's not that I hate gay people, I don't. I would've loved the movie if they made it more..more..romantic. I've read the book Maurice by EM forster and it's about a an English man who realized he love men. The time period of the book was in the early 1900s. It's one of the most beautiful books i've read. I fell in love with it.

Ok - I'm about to eat my words. pinch.gif

It was... just ok, as a whole. The individual performances were amazing (Michelle Williams just broke my heart completely), the filming was well done. The movement of the story was lacking in fluidity though - could have been that I wasn't really in the right head to see it or I'd had too much too much drink (probably a combination of both), but it left me... kind of dry, if that makes sense.

^I totally agree.
I saw it yesterday night. Everyone performed extremely well, and it seemed like you really knew the characters--I liked it overall.

laugh.gif Yes they most definitely are. But beyond that, it's a tale of forbidden love and a heartbreaking one at that.

I'm impressed that they were so easy about the love scenes. They made it seem so natural.

From the Production Notes

Jake Gyllenhaal: Heath and I trusted each other enough to take risks. It was wonderful creating an intimacy with him. He made me feel comfortable; he made me want to be present, and that's the best thing you can ask for from someone you're acting with.

THEN...

Heath Ledger: It was great working with Jake. He was a very brave and talented actor to work with.

No.
They're straight men who love to sex each other up.
