NINTENDO's NEW CONSOLE
well the nintendo company has always been my favorite but now that xbox and playstation have been boosting up gaming sales, well from my opinion i dont know the true statistics, and i saw a rumor on the upcoming console for nintendo. its nuts all these new consoles. well i love nintendo and they have a change to BLOW everyone away because everyone is coming up with new consoles but there is a rumor for the new Nintendo console called "Nintendo Revolution." They have a chance to beat xbox and playstation and i hope they do cause nintendo is an all time favorite. so has anyone heard anything else on nintendo revolution.???? this is where i found the rumor >>> click speculations is that the Nintendo revolution is going to be unique in a way were the game is viewed in 3d and they had the first hearings of it at a panel. i dont know what they mean 3d but they said the controllers will mostlikely be all wireless and support a pda type touch screen. this sounds juicy but these are all speculations. i dont know but there is just so many things they can do now. edit here is another good link : IGN . hmm. sounds expensive.
there are 3-d LCD screens currently that render 3-d games as two images, and you cross your eyes to see them. i hope this isn't like that.. |

Yes. The Nintendo Revolution will in fact have controllers that are touch pads...in fact, the developers of games can modify the way the controller looks, according to the game. They can change the layout, functions, and everything they need in order the make the game more enjoyable.
Also not much has been released from Nintendo concerning the Revolution (i don't think that's even the real title, just a 'codename'), considering the r337 innovations these guys have. One thing, though, is that Nintendo will not be publishing games upon release of the Revolution unless the developers of those games take full advantage of the controls...sounds pretty whack huh? Nintendo might be making their own games...for a while...which isn't bad, considering the good games they are able to make. |

yea thats the code name but thats crazy about the changeable controllers and the pda characteristics. it sounds expensive but i hope they make it as cheap for the middle class people. the name they call it is "GCNEXT" meaning the succesor of gamecube.

I think they will be able to make it cheap. It's Nintendo, the oldest of the three top console battle people. I'm sure they have a few tricks up their sleeves
![]() They will realize that the main reason that Xbox did not successfully launch as well as a PS2 did, despite the awesome technical specs, was because of it's sheer cost. Surely they will not make the same mistake. Also, something on the side...did you know that Gamecube was a 32-bit console, which is why they didn't have Mario 64? Haha! |

Nintendo did admit that the "revolutionary" concept will involve the controller, but this does not confirm a touch pad. http://www.createblog.com/forums/index.php...endo+revolution Personally, I have my doubts that 3d the technology in the above topic will be part of the revolution. This might be a bit expensive, which is not nintendo's style. But if they can pull it off, it will be BIG. Nintendo has a big chance to regain the lead. Playstation's Cell processor will be tough to program for, so 3rd party support may be lacking in the beginning (unless sony releases some good devkits). QUOTE Also, something on the side...did you know that Gamecube was a 32-bit console, which is why they didn't have Mario 64? Haha! No, the gecko processor is 128 bit. Certain operations executed by the processor may be 32 bit (and some are 64 bit), but the Gamecube is indeed a 128 bit console. |

QUOTE(GamePro @ Issue # 201, June 2005) The "Revolution" Name - Unknown. Revolution sounds awfully boastful, but then again, this is Nintendo. Launch Date - 2006 Backward Compatibility - Confirmed backward compatibility with the GameCube. Central Processor - By IBM as are those in the Xbox2 and PS3. Graphics Processor - Courtesy of ATi, who with the Xbox2, is seeing brisk business these days. Online Play - Nintendo has partnered with GameSpy, but for what? Is the company taking the plunge? Connectivity - Built in Wi-Fi to connect with other Revolutions and probably the DS. Cool Rumor - Touch-panel controllers that are completely customizable. Note - Nintendo has said that it will not compete with the PS3 and Xbox2 in terms of hardware, so you can probably expect midlevel graphic performance and a significantly lower price point. So thats the skinny on the Revolution. The Xbox2 is a very intriguing piece of hardware however. It is suppost to contain 256 MB RAM, as much as the 600$ ATi Radeon x850 XT. How would they lower the price point on the entire machine if the graphics processor is going to be a beast like that? The PS3 prospects to have the same kind of outlandish pricing, with a graphics processor that is "Courtesy of nVidia, and far more powerful than even the current (and obscenely expensive) PC powerhouse GeForce 6800 Ultra." The next generation of consoles is going to be a big battle, and MS and SONY are bringing the big guns. But much like in, say, Halo 2, sometimes a rocket launcher doesnt do the trick, and a good ol' Sub Maching Gun can wipe out many foes. All I know is that e3 is going to be some kind of show, and I guarantee that the industry will be changed greatly. I believe its going to be a big turning point in gaming. Will graphics win over gameplay? Will developers lose sight of the true objective, pleasing the player? Will Shigeru Miyamoto wear another Link costume? All these questions will be answered, and alot more at this year's e3. |

Yeah, I have heard of the nintendo revoultion.
In fact, sources say that revolution is the code name for the next generation console. From what I know, the intended name is nintendo on. I've seen lots of blueprints and wax models of the console because I live in japan as most of you know. |

rumor is (source is a chinese hardware developer) that the revolution is going to have four 2.5 ghz IBM Power PC processors. 10 ghz, that beats Xbox's 9.6 ghz (3 * 3.2).
edit: http://www.nintendo.com/newsarticle?articl...4139&page=other nintendo says revolution will be about the size of 3 dvd cases stacked up on top of each other, and only slightly longer. |

its so freaking awesome. so far its the smallest console ever and its sleek and sexy. i would hope they come with different colors. i mean ps3 has 3 colors to come with. it would be awesome if this came in green or at least a sleek white.
but the ps3 looks ugly cause it has like the spiderman font on it. and its like one of those weird looking gift boxes. but even tho ps3 is like 35 times more powerful than its ps2 processor i dont think imma buy it. |

With the ability to DL all the games from NES SNES etc etc etc, that right there already makes it the best system for sure.
Then theres the small and sexy look, which of course sells consoles, or so says every PSP fan out there. The PS3 did look dumb, especially with that odd shape, the elliptical kind of shape, I hate it. And the controllers look ridiculously uncomfortable. |

nice.
i'd have to go with the black tho... they need to have glowing LEDs on it. it would probably cost 10 bucks, and it would help sell tons of units... i want to see the controler tho... |

i really really really want to know more about this console. the outside looks great and all, but if I don't know what the controller will look like, or what games will be released (other than every other nintendo console's games), then I'm not quite sold on it yet. Knowing the price would be great too.
edit: oh man. QUOTE "The idea of a single device transporting us back to the first Excitebike, Earthbound, or Punch-Out!! should all make us feel young again, at least for a while. In the end, Nintendo Revolution shares a common vision with one we had for the DS last year. The machine is just a tool. The experience comes from the software." -Satoru Iwata If there are plans for a new Earthbound (i know, he's referring to the old earthbound in the post), then I just became more interested. |

Price hasnt yet been determined, but we all know Nintendo has always been about consumer friendly prices, and has already announced that they wont bother competing in graphical capability with the PS3 or 360. Game prices in general are going up around 5-10 dollars. So ALL new releases will soon be 60$ And Yes Kryo, the analog stick, I didnt think about that. |

this is great news for independent game developers. maybe we'll see something like this released. (warning: 24mb movie, go here: http://www.opcoder.com/projects/chrono/ for project page.) Chrono Ressurection was supposed to come out for the gamecube. It was a remake of chrono trigger. The project was going along great, but SquareEnix asked the independent developers to stop. I heard that the Nintendo Revolution project was started shortley after the release of the N64 not the GameCube. Mainly the GameCube and the Nintendo DS were just released so that they would stay in the business, but the Revolution was said to be the most powerful out of all 2 new systems that are coming out. I guess if Nintendo is going to release something big, now's the time, because that company at this point isn't doing too well...

they are the ONLY and ONLY ones concentrating on its gaming property for their systems,
the only reason sony is surviving is their home entertainment products like dvd players, cd player, TVs, etc and microsoft is only because of Bill Gates being freakin hella rich and selling accessories for computers and OS, and maybe the Halo series too =). But hey, Nintendo is still standing, people think they suck but actually, they sell more unit systems than any other gaming company. |

Supposedly, these are Nintendo Revolution graphics. I have doubts that these are real. But if they are, then I guess we don't have to worry that the revolution is going to be much weaker than the other two. http://img184.imageshack.us/img184/8766/re...nfaces015wv.jpg http://img184.imageshack.us/img184/8231/re...kinetown6hx.jpg http://img184.imageshack.us/img184/8718/re...street015ht.jpg Yeah, I highly doubt these are real, but, spreading rumors is fun. QUOTE SPOnG can finally confirm the date by which the world will be relieved of the constant burden of wondering about what Nintendos Revolution controller actually is.
Youll be pleased to know that a full explanation of Revolution will be made by Nintendo president Satoru Iwata during his Tokyo Game Show keynote address. This news represents completely finalised Nintendo plans Iwata will fully outline The Secret on 16th September 2005. Nintendo is assembling key media to attend this years show, due to take place between 16th 18th September 2005. Iwata will make his presentation of current activities at Nintendo. He will outline current projects and will then - unveil the Revolution in all its glory. The Revolution presentation will include an explicit outline of the hardware and its controller and input mechanic, as well as illustrate exactly how it will work. It will go on to show games running on the system and how they make use of the technology. Mario 128, or New Mario as it is dubbed internally at Nintendo, is expected to be the star of the show. SPOnG has a record of perfectly outlining what Iwatas keynote addresses will entail. And we can tell you with 100% certainty that in the next three and a bit weeks, well all be looking at Nintendo Revolution controller hardware and accompanying games. Exciting times indeed. Well bring you updates as they break, as well as Tokyo Game Show coverage direct from the show floor. Let us know what you think, and drop any questions for SPOnGs editorial staff in the forum below. |

I am a huge fan of nintendo's games. who ever says their just for kids is way to into seeing an M rating on a game case.
Anywho I can't wait for the Revolution. Its such a sexy little system, it may even be the only "Next Gen" one I am really excited about. But yea, Nintendo is really the only one who does thing right, they don't care about having the fasted and most powerful piece of silver plastic. So yea, can't wait to see the controller because there have been so many rumors about touch pads and replaceable pieces and gloves and all other sorts of craziness. Whee, this shall quite interesting. ^ That was a very badly though out and written post.. but its late so yea. SHH!! |

Great, an iPod nunchaku.
![]() This is really, really, different (I hesitate to say revolutionary, since we don't know what the rammifications of it's other features will be until we actually play with them). Absolutely nothing what I expected. It looks pretty though. And the features are very promising. |

Gamecube.IGN In "Hands on the Revolution Controller" they point out various tests they performed with it, including just plain pointing and shooting, fishing, pointing out items, and even a first person shooter demo! I think that with this thing we may be able to put Halo to rest. First person shooters where you control forward and strafes with a joystick in one hand, and aim with your 3D pointer remote, shooting like a mouse, except with the physical ability to point at things, as if youre playing 3D duck hunt. The possibilities are amazing. Sword slicing, fishing, car steering, shooting, etc etc etc. The more I talk about this the more Im loving it. Im still definitely getting a Revolution. EDIT: Video |

LOL. The 1up page says there was a "Pilot Wangs" Demo.
http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3143782 By the way, for the people who think this is too different, Nintendo is bundling a "shell" for the Rev controller. Think of the remote like a VMU, that plugs into a controller body. |

QUOTE(ThunderEvermore @ Sep 16 2005, 1:50 PM) QUOTE Jim Merrick: We're producing a classic-style expansion controller, based on traditional designs like the Gamecube controller. It's like a shell with a hole in the top into which you slot the freehand-style controller, and then you can play third-party ported games, and retro Nintendo games you've downloaded.

That's a lot nicer. Personally I feel that gaming consoles reached an epitome with the design of the GameCube's controller, at least as far as controllers are concerned. It was the perfect combination of size and functionality.

I dont know why theyd make it like that since the gamecube controller is already supported. Although if they DID do that type, it would eliminate the ports, which could either make the system smaller, or make more room for something else? |

sry i made another topic on the controller itself. actually i didnt know this was still being posted in.
but i dont think it will be similar to the GC's controller. hopefully the cradle will look a little different. but i love how they constructed the contoller. i just dont know about holding that in the other hand yet. lol i tried to do it with the controller for the GC and the one of the tv to see how it would work. but its so awesome they are going out there with this controller. i didnt even think the controller was going to look like that. i thought both of them were giong to be attached, like parts to a puzzle, not like a wire. QUOTE(kryogenix @ Sep 17 2005, 8:55 AM) i think if they used the same kind of controller it would kind of be bulky especially the plug in of the new controller, and it would be kind of repetitive. imagine FPS games. the shooting would be more accurate than ever. it would kind of suck if you had a cast on your arm. lol |

who cares how good the guy looks? or how real the blood is? i don't even have a HD tv... one of my TVs is at least 15 years old if not more... old tube's still going strong. plasmas, however, burn out, have imprintations, etc. yea. i think nintendo is going towards true gaming, where microsoft and sony are going towards interactive movies. |

Exactly. Sony just wants the PS3 to be a huge entertainment and media center. And the xbox is just an over hyped computer/ISP. Nintendo is the family console. It is there to get families together around the warm glow of the TV and have some fun! Jumping around playing tennis, slashing swords, shooting bad guys, and finding the hidden items. Gaming isnt just a sit down hobby anymore. Its time to get up and get active! Become part of the game! |

I'm not really sure how I feel about this new controller. I guess I should hold off judgement until I actually use it, but to be honest, I don't see what was wrong with the traditional style. I don't really want to swing a remote control-like thing in a baseball game, or use it like a gun or a fishing rod or any other item. I just want to push a couple buttons and relax with a sweet videogame.
That's one thing I do really like about Nintendo--instead of making all their games incredibly complex and flashy, they focus on intuitive gameplay and, most importantly, the story. The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker is a perfect example: in an age when all the other companies are trying to outdo each other, Nintendo releases a game with relatively simple graphics that focuses on the story. That's why Nintendo is awesome. I'm not saying that this new style of controller with keep them from continuing that tradition, but to me, it just seems kind of pointless. I just want simple games like I used to play, not something brand-spanking-new and incredibly innovative like a motion-sensitve controller. |

Luckily, there will be a bundled "shell" that is more like a regular controller in case you don't like moving your arms. If you saw the video, for the person controller Mario jumping, that didn't look to comfortable. In that case, I'd use a regular controller. But if I wanted to play ping pong with a friend? I'd use the gyroscopic controller. In fact, you could even just turn the controller sideways to play NES. |

The Revolution is very interesting. but I think that Nintendo is releasing too many systems. ex: GBA, SP, DS, Gamecube, and now Gameboy Micro.
I was indifferent with the controller at first. But thinking of the possiblities of what it can do, it just amazes me. hah, first person shotters would be awesome. |

QUOTE(mipadi @ Sep 21 2005, 12:01 PM) Thats not the point. They WILL make a controller style shell for the remote. The point is that the games are going to be made for the remote, and if they make all the games for the controller instead, that takes away credibility from Nintendo, for they make this revolutionary remote and then turn around and dont use it. The point of the remote is to create new ideas, and breathe fresh air into gaming. All that gets trampled if they use the controller for most of the games. |

Well, I guess part of being "revolutionary" is making something new that developers (and gamers) will take advantage of. To me, this controller seems to be a good idea conceptually, but I don't find it to be very practical. I know I'm not really interested in sitting in my living room and pointing a controller like a gun, or swinging it like a golf club or baseball bat, or anything else. It doesn't really seem geared towards the casual gamer. |

I know I'm not really interested in sitting in my living room and pointing a controller like a gun, or swinging it like a golf club or baseball bat, or anything else. It doesn't really seem geared towards the casual gamer. I think its geared more towards casual gamers than anything. Youre going to get the harcore console guys who are gonna talk about how they miss their controller and that they cant get used to the remote, evn though its a fairly simple idea, with almost a nil learning curve. I think over all most people are psyched about the control, besides the few morons who talk in sentence fragments and numbers when they say, "t1s ug1y!!! t2h c0n+ro11er 1s s0 gh3y!" etc etc, but they hardly count, theyre all getting 360s anyway. The cradle will probably be used for few games, mostly for the downloaded classics. And when it is used, most of the time it will combo the 3D pointing and the controller together. So youre still going to have to move around etc. If they really took most of the games and made them for the cradle use, theyd lose ALOT of credibility, like I said. Developers are already jumping on this, with many of them speaking praise for the remote. |

QUOTE(ThunderEvermore @ Sep 21 2005, 3:23 PM) But it definitely requires a different mindset than using a traditional controller. I'm just saying that, speaking from the point of view of a casual gamer, I'm not interested in swinging some controller around to do stuff. I've been using a traditional controller since I was three, when the Nintendo was released, and I'm comfortable with that. I'm not interested enough in gaming to want to learn a new style of play, and I think that's the same for most casual gamers. I actually disagree with your statement: I think most hardcore gamers are heralding this controller, whereas most casual gamers are a) uninterested or b) don't like it. |

well, i'd rather swing a remote thing to make the character swing a light saber than press A B up left left, or something like that.
