Today Apple released the Ipod Mini's replacement, the Ipod Nano.

I personally like it, what do you people think?

Its a lot nicer than the Ipod mini.

I personally could not have that little storage, I have 60gb. But I think its a lot more attractive than the Ipod mini was.


Also, the Nano comes in black, so I guess you could say thats a color.

Well, yeah, that's nice for me, and many other people I'm sure, but I also know a lot of people who bought the mini over the ipod since they came in colors and didn't care much about storage size

If color becomes that much of an issue when your buying the ipod, just buy one of those skin things.

Its kind of odd to say oh, thats a better product, but I'll take this one because it matches my pants.

Personally, I like the white, but it may lose customers who were interested in mainly only that to begin with. The minis weren't a particularly good deal

The more i look at the website, the more i like it, though. however, when is says 2gb and 4gb starting at $199, does that mean $199 for 2gb? haven't 4gb gone down to that price typically?

The pricing is not the best, I think your paying more because its so, well small and thin.

It looks nicer than the ipod mini, but for some reason I just don't care about the "color".  I mean, I don't care if it's a color screen or not (I know..i'm strange).

By color we where referring to the actual color of the device, not the screen. Yes, the price is a big down side to it.

THe Nano is the best flash player in the US, not sure about the world. And this is not my opinion either, this is looking at it in a technical sense. It has blown the flash competition out of the water. Apple has raised the Flash Limit, from 1 gig and lower, to 4 and lower. I dont know what will happen to the Micro drive term though. (2.5-5.0 gigs)

I don't know that any-one company has "rights" to a name such as Nano, or Mini. There are alot of devices that use the names, so I don't think Zen & apple are going to go at it about that...Although in the key note, Steve did go after quite a few, including Zen, competitors on the issues of size and storage. So yea, the Nano is aggressive.

yes, I think the color did change, however I am not sure if its just image quality.

it is kind of expensive, most likely because of what they had to do, to make it thinner than a 2# pencil. It will go down if the price hinders sales most likely.

acutally imma consider getting this. now that i have read on how to use the lithium ion battery. lol the charge time is like 1 hour and a half for the fast charge so im not gunna leave it on the charger for the whole night.

I don't have a problem with how it looks personally. It looks "mutated" because they made the circle in the click wheel larger, and the device itself smaller. So it looks different from what where r used to seeing in an ipod.


Personally, I'll be waiting a while, hoping for a price cut. the 20 gig ipod is only around 50 dollars more, and its able to hold 4,000 more songs.

If the price goes down enough, its the ipod for me.

the nano looks like you'll have a hard time scrolling it and holding it so it won't fall out of your hand... at least that's what the positioning of the wheel looks like to me.

one cool thing the wheel should be is you should be able to combination lock your ipod... and you could spin the wheel to input the numbers...

i want it lol i think there is like a defect in the iPod mini's cuz everybody i know says there battery keeps running down even when its off like it'll be fully charged when you go to sleep then you wake up and its dead so i think they covered it up by killing it and releasing the nano i do like the nano better cuz its smaller (easier to lose) and its got the color screen thats awesome i wonder if its like the iPod photo where you can put photos on it separate from songs what they should come out with next is an iPod that plays songs and music videos since you can watch them now in the new iTunes 5

I actually just downloaded the DVD ISO of Fedora Core 4 yesterday, in preparation for setting up a workstation with it.

By the way, if anyone is interested in Linux, I highly recommend Fedora Core, it's one of the best distros I've ever used, and very easy to set up and maintain.

I don't think they require Napster; they are compatible with Napster, though.

There's some software you can use to transfer songs to and from iPods for Linux, but Apple itself doesn't release any software.

Rule of thumb is that if your Linux kernel supports USB thumb drives, it will support the iPod. Then you can use GNUPod or GTKPod to transfer songs.

iriver supports mp3 files and can also play files you get off napster. i'm not sure what wva is (wav? wma?), but i think those file types are compatable with iriver also. on the ipod side, napster files will not play, but mp3s definitely play, and i'm 99% sure wavs do too. wmas can be converted into mp3s in itunes. i hope that helps.

I own a ipod nano and truthfully I like it better than the mini ipod. Even though the mini ipod is a great ipod nano is smaller and thinner but most of all it can contain pictures and it has color =P. Another great advancment on the nano... Yep yep =P
