I don't know whether to put it in the girl's section or health section but since I'm asking if it's healthy or not I decided to put it here and since i am anonymous it wont really matter if people know it's my period.

Okay I was changing my pad and then noticed the blood was black. It wasn't brown, or dark brown, or dark red but BLACK. Is that healthy?

Alright. Thanks for the advice but I guess I'll wait a little longer until someone who knows a little more about this could answer.

I think I got that before too mellow.gif maybe it's just dried? Because usually I don't chance my pad alot maybe once every 6 hours? It could have possibly been red before.

Wow, that sounds odd.
I recommend making an appointment with your doctor; hopefully, it's nothing too serious.
I can't give you any advice on it though, because I've never experienced black blood on my period before. ;/

I don't think you need to...sometimes my blood is dark red-black when i'm at the end of my period. i think it's normal because there's some left over blood that's dried up.

You just need a lot more exercise.
The blood clots up and becomes black when you lack exercise.

^ Yeah. Blood should be fluid and red, but it isn't anything serious if it isn't. When it clots up, it's dark dark red, not black.

Yes it's normal.

Blood that has been sitting in the vagina for awhile turns black. So it is fairly normal for the last little bit of blood at the end of the cycle to be black.

at the end of my period it's been so dark brown that it's almost black. Doesn't sound like anything big to me, considering i'm still alive, but if you're really worried, ask a physician, and then tell us how it goes.

That's never happened to me. But like everybody else has said, it's probably dried blood but if you want to make sure, go see a doctor.

It's like that for me, too. Don't worry too much about it.

It depends when you get it, I suppose. If it's on your first few days (the heaviest days), then that's a bit weird...if ALL the blood from your heavy days is making your pad completely black, then you should go see the doctor. However, if it's nearing the end and it's only a minimal amount of blood, it's normal.

I'd go see the doctor anyway, just in case. Better to be safe than sorry.

Yeah, go see a doctor.

Maybe your blood is just full of clots? Maybe they only appear to be black?

Do you mean the black was on your pad? If so then it's just dried blood. Perfectly normal.

black? i don't know. The closest i got to black was like DARK DARK RED. but you could still tell it was red. Hmm I dont want to say if its healthy or not cause im not sure myself and i dont want to lead you to think other stuff. Maybe you should contact your doctor or your parents and ask them just to be sure.

i have that problem... it is cause by your body retaining water..

if it comes out black... not like dried and stuff...

the blood cells kinda lack the water cause the retained water is in you body... so it is blackish brown kinda stuff.

i have a severe problem of retaining water... and don't eat salt... so i was on this chinese medication from Taiwan to help me fix the retention problem but only for the 2 months i took it... my period was fine. but ever since im was off it i had the blackish stuff again.

i suggest you either find a way to get rid of the excess water or go see a gnecologist.

I swear we've had this topic before....something about it being in your body for longer...... Is it near the end of your period? because I get it sometimes then too, and in that thread, we pretty much came to the consensus that it was pretty normal.
