^
*sigh*

well, if you mean loosening the rules in terms of being mor elenient about spam and such, have you considered the job the mods would have clearing up afterwards?

if you mean relaxing member bashing restrictions, have you considered the inevitability that no one would let the arguments go after the holiday? i think we on CB have proven ourselves mightily incapable of just dropping things and moving on...

if you mean in terms of advertising, again consider the number of threads staff would then have to go back and close/delete.

all round, a dreadful idea

Well, thats like having a party though. It'll leave mods in charge of cleaning up. No offense, but I don't think it's such a good idea. It'll encourage spammers to spam more on the "holiday" and things could get out of hand. Such as unnessary topics, spam, member bashing.

I don't support this idea.

Rules are to be followed at all times, and there should be no exception.

Oh my....yes, let's all have more hell on CB for a day, and then a week cleaning up the spam/vulgar topics/banning & bashing members...yada yada yada.
The definition of a "CB HOLIDAY" is if everyone actually did obey the rules and made the job of modding much easier. now, THAT would indeed be a holiday :)

Sunds being the key word. I like KissMe2408's idea of a CB Holiday sooo much better.
The other one would probably require every staff member to be moved over to People staff temporarily.

I don't know how we could instate a mophing topic, but personally I don't mind when it gets off topic sometimes- especially in like the hate thread when I don't like the topic to begin with- but personally I would enjoy it. Once again, the fab five owned everything

didn't it end at like 30 something? either that or that's where i stopped reading. i don't remember. i liked them for a long time in elemntary school though. i also liked the everworld books by that author even better </off topic>

Hahaha! I remember being so pissed off in first grade because most of the class wasn't allowed in the chapter book section, but she let James, and I was jealous because I could read as well as him, so I boycotted the picture books and didn't read anything from the school library except Amelia Bedelia for the rest of the year

We didn't start AR until second grade. I was really into the boxcar children books that year.

My kindergarten teacher was like that. It was at a different school than I went to for the rest of the time, and the rest of the class was behind me and she kept foricing me to read BOB books, even though i could do it easily

yea, i like read all the goosebumps ones too.

and then middle of 5th grade, i moved to a school with AR.

and in that half a year, i had more AR points than most everyone else. but at the end i was like... screw this, and so two people beat me.

but still... it was like... i'd check out a book, get it approved, and then an hour later i was like... can i go to the library again? it pissed off the teacher.

oh... i remember there was this thing in texas... the bluebonnet books.. every year there would be 20 selected books for kids to read. and students could read them and then take a test on them and get free stuff.

i remember i was like... the 5th person to finish them all... and the librarian was like... you're sure you're ready for the test?

man that was fun.

but they made me take speech therapy in elementary school. that annoyed me. well, i do have a lisp, but so?

I never read Hardy Boys, but I did read Nancy Drew and American Girl

I actually had to take speach therapy too. Just in second grade. I was pretty pissed off. It was only for the 'sh' sound. I got out of there as quickly as possible. Between speech and focus (elementary school girfted program) I was hardly ever in normal class. Amazing I learned anything that year. Focus kicked ass, though

What are these bluebonnet books?

I read the Hobbit in 4th grade on my own, I think. It was decent, but in 7th grade we had to read it for class and I hated it. I never made it past the intro of the Fellowship

I could never just read one book at a time. I think my record was reading 7 books at once. I always finished them quickly, too, since I would read instead of paying attention to class. That pissed off my teachers, so they'd take away my books, so then I'd just doodle instead. By the end of the year, I always had to sit on the first row so i could be easily seen and yelled at

AR wasn't taken seriously in elementary school- in fact, i never had many points since I couldn't be bothered to take tests since a lot of the books i read didn't have tests until middle school for the books i read. i always got AR trophies in middle school, though

i loved ella enchanted! i read it abot 4 times. i actually did it for a book report once, too

omg if you weren't doing well in AR you were like..discriminated by the teachers. they were so snobby. It all mattered how many points you have. 60? Not good enough. Yeesh.

I READ MULTIPLE BOOKS AT ONCE TOO! That was really fun.

Were american girl the ones like with the dolls? I think I read a few of those...

American Girl books kicked major butt. At least in the third grade.

oh, what was the series with the howlers and the strange things and it was the animorphs verses 7 howlers in a game set up by the elimist...

That sounds like one of the Megamorphs...or maybe it was Animorphs #26...Dang it, I wish I was at home to read them.

yeah, they were the ones with dolls. i was obsessed with the dolls and books. i have samantha biggrin.gif

some elementary years we practically forgot about AR altogether. i really only remember taking 1 test in second, several in third, and a few at the end of fifth. my teachers knew i read- i did too much- so they were'nt that concerned unless i tried to test on books i'd read ages ago and failed them. i think that only happened in 7th and when i was point cramming in 8th. I could read pretty much anything i wanted since my reading level usually went from 5th grade- college level. How that worked, i don't know

i never bought the animorphs or i'd check, but i always borrowed them from james or the library

^ I liked the dolls. I thought those were the cutest/coolest things evah!

Lucky. Our teachers breathed AR. Apparently Texas, the state, is in this big competition with all the other states to see how many of their kids can read better.

I was so obsessed with looking at the AG catalogs. I think I mentally played with them more than I did the actually doll

AR became pretty important in middle school. In 7th grade, i had the same teacher for lit and spanish, so i had to do AR for both (since we had such a high hispanic population we had lots of spanish pre school book tests and other times we could do spanish related books- i read the old man and the sea in 2 hours once)

Georgia has terrible scores in most everything. I'm in the 'good school district' though, so we have our own stupid county tests and stuff

happy.gif be here more often!

I know, the irony. I'm really not capable of not continuing off topic conversations. But it's fun to talk about how reading was fun back when I had time to read and a decent attention span

We didn't start AR until second grade. I was really into the boxcar  children books that year.

My kindergarten teacher was like that. It was at a different school than I went to for the rest of the time, and the rest of the class was behind me and she kept foricing me to read BOB books, even though  i could do it easily

OMFG. BOXCAR. I START READING ONE OF THESE BOOKS WHEN I WAS A 4th-5th GRADER.
I FORGOT THE TITTLE OF THE BOOK THOUGH .. ermm.gif

- There are people who are afraid of waking up early in the dark morning to eat breakfast or prepare for school.

- The day before school starts at 8:00, a lot of family members makes lots of noise at night/evening while the student are still focusing doing challenging homework because it takes the whole day. (struggling)

- They end up not finishing their homework but they plan to finish their homework on the next day. When the next day happens, students do not have much time to complete their assignment. If they plan to finish their homework after school starts, it’ll affect their record. The more they are use to doing that, the school would be disappointed. More student wonder why that person did not attend school on time so they ask questions. Teacher and staff would overheard them and enforce new strict rules of attending classes late such as detention, lose privileges, lose recess, and allow you not to participate field trip for being late 10 times. (My school does that, what a f**ker.)

- Students still have enough time to finish copying answers from other students. (It’s much quicker to finish homework).

I'm not even done with it. I didnt post it earlier because i forgot where did i store it.

All of these statement are related to each other. Most of them are from my experience.
