"Position: absolute" <-- whats it mean!, Trying to figure out divs Options

I can't figure out how to cover the extended network section with a div alignment.

I've been going through the code piece by piece, and it would really help if someone could tell me what the "position: absolute" does, and what other variables I could use besides "absolute".

And yes, I've checked the "simple div overlay" section, but that just leaves me more confused...
