Resurrection Mary I

Oh so fair,
The beauty's amble,
Down the streets,
Lost,
A white gown,
To match the snow,
That hides her fair countenance,
Her deep blue eyes,
Empty with sorrow,
Flowing blonde hair,
That falls on her delicate shoulders,
A discrete smile,
Behind sobbing eyes,
Waiting for someone to help her.

Resurrection Mary II

A car pulls nearby,
A fog of exhaust in the night,
A driver's invitation to the grateful girl,
Her lovely face,
Pale in the cold,
Shoulders bare,
The lace holds her tight,
But it isn't enough,
Yet she seems not disturbed,
When the car rolls along,
She stares out the window,
No sound.

Resurrection Mary III

The conversation's nonexistent,
A few words spoken,
Silence in response,
Two sticks rubbed together,
To produce no flame,
"Take me down Archer Lane."
The girl spoke in gentle, soft words,
Looking out the window,
Gravestones came into view,
The sky its chilling winter gray,
"Stop!" she shrieked and the car stopped,
It rocked back and forth for a moment,
And she was gone,
Her voice still ringing,
Ringing...
Silence.

--

A tribute to the most beautiful and widely known ghost of Chicago!
