We gave a black man a shot.
Broke the ice a bit. I wouldn't doubt Hilary eventually being president. If Sarah Palin ever became president ... Oh My God. |

Uhh, this isn't even a debate. It's just asking what we would do. In history, a lot of male presidents have made stupid decisions, so it's not like they have proven men are better for the job. The worse that could happen is that she'd PMS and drop bombs on another country.

why is that? because there isn't any reason why i wouldn't. why would having a woman president be inherently worse than having a man president? we already know that men can be shitty presidents, so there isn't anything to indicate that there is some uniquely male characteristic that prevents them from being bad. it's just a stupid thing to say. saying that a woman will be a bad president becuase she is a woman is the same thing as saying a black/asian/hipsanic/JEW/whatever person will be no good because they were born black/asian/hipsanic/JEW/whatever. it's not a justifiable reason. |

I would love a jewish president.
but theres the thing. jews would like that, maybe not others. some like a black president, some dont. some would like a lady. some wouldnt. but no one has a problem with the born american caucasian. the choices they make though are very controversial. so it seems like a male white man is the most un, ummm.... the most nuetral kind of man. my opinion. and we have had 44 white male presidents. why break the chain? idk... sometimes i think about the good having a black president has done other times not... silly dog, what are you doing up there. you arent a power line technician. you dont even have tools. |

Do you really think saying "my opinion" makes what you just said any less stupid? Basically what you just said is "We should let white men rule everything because they make all the sexist and raciest happy" |

agree with abbey and to add onto what abbey said keeping only white male presidents for the sake of "not breaking the chain" is just as trivial and stupid a reason as anything. apply that logic anywhere else and it makes no sense. how about we just don't give blacks and women rights because why break the chain? how about we keep discriminating against jews because i mean we've been doing it for a while so why stop now?
oh yeah and idk how white men make everyone happy. if you actually think about it white men are the minority. all the women + all minority races together we outweigh them by a lot. they've made a lot of good choices for the rest of us in history...not. |

Whats the difference though? Theres been plenty of incompetent white leaders in office but you hear no one say "Sometimes I think about the good about having a white president has done and other times not" When people disagree with a black president, they're racist. When people disagree with a white president, they're unpatriotic. Now, if people were to disagree with a woman president, they're sexist. |

I think the fact that people call other people racist when they dis agree with obama is stupid. someone is racist if they openly admit they dislike black people. |

Everyone knows what racism is. Stop trying to act smart with all your fancy talk. lol@"fancy talk". Abbey pretty much summed it up, but the reason I pointed out what Joseph said is because of the way he said it. Just because you haven't seen racism or experienced it doesn't mean that it doesn't exist. Someone doesn't have to join a hate group or publicly affirm that they are racist to actually be racist, because there is such a thing as "thought". Joseph, I'm not calling anyone stupid, I just pointed out how I took your reply and since you are in the Debate forum you might want to be more thorough with your thoughts before you reply. Oook, moving on... |

Everyone knows what racism is, that it does exist, that some people are racist and those people who are aren't going to announce it to anyone or they don't know they are in the first place. Duh. I don't know what kind of point you are trying to make... Other than maybe you have a problem with how people explain things. Everyone here knows what racism is... You basically are starting a little debate for no reason.. maybe your bored? Anyways, we were talking about the people (or Jimmy Carter) calling people racist when they disagree with Obama, we weren't talking about racism as a whole. |

Just because this is the Debate forum doesn't mean every reply is trying to start something. I was just clearing things up. There's nothing technical about appropriately using a word. |

On an unrelated note, I'd like to see someone like McCain in office. My only issue with him is on a personal issue, where he said that he thinks Christians are most fit to lead the country.

yeah, but then again, alot of people voted for him BECAUSE of her obviously not enough the majority are the people who are in the middle. people in the middle didn't vote for him because of her, because she's too extreme for people in the middle (unlike mccain, who's biggest strength imo was the perception he isn't far right). he shot himself in the foot by adding her on, seriously. i have no clue why she would increase the appeal for anyone. that includes women, who should be completely offended that he chose her out of all the intelligent women he could have chosen. i just really question anyone's sanity who thinks palin is the sharpest tool in the shed and most qualified woman out there. out of all the great reasons to vote for mccain, i can't fathom why anyone's main reason would be because of palin. what the hell kind of person thinks palin has more merit to her name than mccain? wtf |

I think Kevin was referring to his POW injuries? A lot of voters voiced their concern about that when the 2008 campaigns were still going on. That's right, I forgot about that. Either way, I still give him a few more years before he's totally unfit to lead, whether do to senility, injury, death, or anything else. |
