my cousin who was about 18/19 got hers done, but it got really infected and her whole tongue went really swollen
and she had to stay like 10 days in hospital, she was seriously ill but i can understand why u want one, i like them too but i;d wait until you're alot older |

It hurts like HELL. My friend said she thought she was actually going to die from the pain.. She couldn't eat for about a month (only cold soup). She also got an infection (which isn't a rare thing), and it made the situation even worse.
You're still 14.. Why would you do that to yourself? Why don't you pierce your belly first, then see how much it hurts, and imagine that particular pain multiplied many, many, many times. She was 18 when she got it, and she even said she should've waited a few more years. Taylor`` |

some people can pull it off. honestly i think some can look classy and some can look trashy. i'm not against anyone who has it though, thats just my opinion. i heard that in the long run, like when you're older, it'll eventually mess up your gums and your teeth. my grandma told me that she read this article how this girl lost all feeling in her face after having her tongue pierced for a while.

A girl in one of my classes said she was about to get her tongue pierced, and we had this whole giant discussion about it. Like cassjamminx said, it does mess up people's mouths after a while.
It's something that I would never ever do. I'm too scared of the needle and of infections. Egads. Scary stuff. |

I would NEVER EVER EVER get a tongue ring. Do you even realize how many health risks you are opening yourself up to by poking a hole through your tongue? Your mouth has the most bateria in it and by getting your tongue pierced you open up your blood stream to said bacteria, as well as the metal. Not to mention you can easily crack your teeth and get gum disease. My mother used to be a nurse and saw many teens with heart disease from the bacteria going through their blood stream.

AHH!
Im afraid of pointy objects. Seriously, I had my tenis shot and I passed out. Now Ive had a concussion for 5 months now. If I were to get something pierced it would be my ears and maybe (probably not) my lip. I think thats very sexy on a guy. Put a tounge ring? Blah. If you took it out, you could like pass liquids through your tounge... Youd get food stuck in it. Idk. Maybe. I think that would be weird. |

I think that tongue rings are pretty neat, and as much as I'd like one, I wouldn't actually do it. For one, I have a problem with mouth sores, and if you do also, a peircing could make it worse. Second, if not done right there's a high infection risk, and mouth problems are heard to treat. Third, tongue rings could screw around with your sense of taste a bit. I wouldn't want to lose my liking for coffee and cheese.
