It's kind of stupid because if you think about.. christians, like myself, are always taught of being kind to everyone. It's funny that you find christians boycotting stores that says Happy Holidays.. because in the beginning, we're taught to be respectful to others.

who said we are boycotting???? and u believe what the "secular" media says about us [christians] ? we have never boycotted at least to my own knowledge...... its just that some/most of the secular media out there just want to remove "God" out of our nation... thats just plain simple... if u dont believe in God then what do u believe in??

We use "Happy Holidays" because not everyone celebrates Christmas. Some celebrate Hannakuh (sp?), Kwanza, etc.

i've never really celebrated christmas, all my family does is trade presents and bring out our tiny fake tree. big deal.

i can't understand why all my Christian friends are trying to persuade me to become christian (I AM NOT CHRISTIAN). they say Christianity is the absolute best religion there is and if you are not Christian this life, you will go to hell.

how is Christianity the best, most fair, etc. religion when Christians themselves are jinxing non-Christians about their non-Christianity, claiming Christmas as their own (and not sharing it)?

as far as i'm concerned, i don't understand Christianity. period.

and that's why i don't like christianity.

because all these christians think their religion is the absolute best and thier god is the absolute best...

which results in my signature...

and i actually know a fair amount about christianity...

yes, but isnt it also dumb of nonchristians to think the world has to conform to them? tell me happy ramadan, tell my mother happy passover. if you can celebrate other holidays on other times of the year, why does christmas season have to be so generalized? hanaukah is over, why would we wish you that anymore? and i have honestly never met anyone who celebrates kwanza before. its not even that religious, is it? basically created so that african-americans who arent christian or jewish can feel special and fit into the celebrations as well? and why must we clump all december/january holidays together anyway? theyre not all on the same day, so how about we celebrate each one as it arrives. wait until after christmas to with happy new years. alright, ive strayed from my point a bit, but basically, this whole ordeal is ridiculous. why do people have to get so f**king easily offended?

I don't care what the shizznitz you all say, I'll say Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays whenever it suits me.

QUOTE

I know I'm quoting you out of context, and I really shouldn't but that just kind of rubbed me the wrong way.

Sure, I think it's dumb for non-Christians to be so obsessed with saying happy holidays instead of merry christmas, but it's dumber for some Christians to get upset over non-Christians who don't care to use merry christmas OR happy holidays.

If Christians didn't tell me that they think I shouldn't have said merry christmas, then I wouldn't bother to distinguish the differences of happy holidays and merry christmas.

There are non-Christians who care, and there are those who don't care until their feathers are ruffled, like me.

QUOTE

I get f**king offended when people tell me I can't wish my friends and family to have a happy holidays using AVAILABLE terms because I'm not part of the clique.

Like saying Merry Christmas or getting presents or celebrating on Dec 25th is reserved for only certain special people.

I get offended and I have a right to be.

Freedom of religion. Freedom of speech. So long as I'm not saying f**k Christmas instead of merry, then everyone should be happy and not be offended.

I do see your point of view though. There are non-Christians who take this too far. But you know, I'm sure their feathers were ruffled by something one way or another, or else, why would they bother?

Ooh, yay. I've been bitching about this subject for a few days now.

Anyways.
People just.. ugh. Get overly offended?
It's really annoying me.
If you're offended by something, or if you don't like how something is done.. don't piss and moan at an administrator of some kind.. because they have the power to abolish that specific event/phrase/etc.

Seriously. If you don't like something, just f*cking roll with it.
I'm sick and tired of this politically correct bullshit.
Say what you f*cking want to. If you don't agree with it, don't return the favor. Say "happy holidays" if you wish, but don't ruin things for other people.

And I'm not even talking about this whole holiday situation..
If you don't like something, then go ahead and whine. But don't get it abolished if it'll benefit/please other people. It's a bit selfish 'cause, oh gee! You don't like something, so you're going to go and try and get it abolished!

This all just really pisses me off.

A lot of things offend me in this world.
I don't agree with people on a lot of things.
I could go bitch to somebody with power about it, but do I?
No. I just roll with it because I don't want to take something away from other people. Just be a little more considerate, you know?

If someone says "Merry Christmas" to you, and you're a part ofanother religion or something like that, then just smile and say thank you and return it.. you can DEFINITELY return that with "Happy Holidays!" or inserting your OWN holiday there. You're still spreading the joy.

I'm just sick of this politically correct bullshit.
Why do we have to try and please everyone?
It's never going to work out so everyone is pleased, so why not just roll with it and do it the way that you please to do things?

exactly. but some selfish Christians say its not right for non-Christians to celebrate their holidays. really, if Jesus does love us all, he should understand that some of us just have other religions, its nothing against him. didn't your teacher in kindergarten tell you to accept everyone the way they are?

my Christian friends tell me Christianity is an open religion - it tries to lure people into believing in God. whereas people here are claiming Christmas for themselves and still celebrating halloween.

wtf?

i doubt that your friends say that christianity is the best. i think your exaggerating cause i wouldn't even say that... and if they did then they arent the best of christians.

There are no "best" religions there is none. It shouldnt matter. how can a religion be the best???

RELIGION IS NOT A COMPETITION. and that also goes to your friends that say christianity is the best.

and they only think that because so many people believe in God. Not all but many in the US. Christianity is a religion but is also seperated. there are many kinds of christianity. like for example if you speak spanish, there are dialects like puerto rican, dominican, salvadorian, peruvian...etc...

Chrisitanity like launguages have different kinds of christianity. like
catholics
born again
baptists.... but they all still believe in God.

Yes, I realize that.. but you should be able to say "Merry Christmas" without a bunch of people jumping all over you.
If you don't believe in Christmas, then don't say "Merry Christmas".. say "Happy Hannukah [sp?]" if someone says "Merry Christmas" to you.. or replace that with the holiday that you celebrate. Or go ahead and say "Happy Holidays", but I refuse to. I'll say whatever the hell I please.
Or just say thank you and move along.
I'm fully aware of the fact that not everyone here is a Christian.
I know that from experiences, but I don't see why a person can't say "Merry Christmas" without people spazzing at them about how you have to be politically correct and shit like that.

Yeah, and that sucks, too..
Personally, I think you should be able to say/do whatever the hell you want on this subject. If you celebrate [insert holiday here], then do stuff for that holiday.

i agree completely

as for what sadolakced acid said, thats wrong. say what you want, but dont stop me from saying merry christmas, and ill let you say whatever you want.

although, in churches, you should say merry christmas, because the fact that youre in church implies that youre christian. if youre in a church, and youre nott christian, you cant very well get offended by christian beliefs, because youre the one who went.

the first post in this thread was about churchs telling thier members to boycott stores that said 'happy holidays' instead of 'merry christmas' because it's "wrong to take christ out of the season"
