Oh wow, that's good that this convo is over because it's very immature of you to say that what you believe in is right and what other people believe in is "shit" and "brainwashing". It's demeaning, and just so you know, you're a terrible debator.

It's not whether we "dare" to say things, it's what we know of and how strongly we believe in it. Don't get mad because you can't argue with anger and get your point across at the same time.

OH and, so long as the UN still wants the US to be in their 'circle' then we have a RIGHT to be in there. Capeche? No one kicked us out.

i may be a bad debater, but at least i stay on topic.

I am not brainwashed. I read the newspaper. I do my research. I have a mind of my own. stubborn.gif I hope you're just asking this because someone is absurd enough to form the opinion that I am.

i apologize that i had more of a life than to be on debate team and stay at school for an extra three hours

also, if you're wondering why i'm so pissed- I'm taking this very, very seriously, and maybe you should too. We are talking about people's lives.

I'm on my school's debate team. mellow.gif

I take it quite seriously as well. My dad was a Marine. I am probably going to be one as well.

I know people in this war...as if I'm not taking this seriously.

Ironic, for I was the one who said that in one of my posts.

Ah, you have more than a life than debate team? Well, maybe you should've stayed those extra hours to learn something positive from them.

Like I said, nothing will come of a debate laced with anger and 'pissed' people. AND you're not taking it very 'seriously' if you don't consider two sides of the story here.

Things are dying down in Iraq, you're supposed to be happy and wish troops will withdraw soon, be happy.

jesus christ i'm not even that mad about it, it's just something i feel strongly about and it sort of makes sense to use strong words to show how strongly you feel about something...

i wasn't trying to be a bitch...

and maybe i will stay extra hours on a debate team next year

I say, I don't support Bush or any of his people. AT ALL.

But, I do support the troops in Iraq, it wasn't THEIR supid idea.

i don't support the war, and others in this thread have said the same reasons in which i don't support it.

just a quick question though - why is it ok for us to have weapons of mass destruction, and USE them, and not anyone else?

I love hearing that crock.

U.S. casualties:

Civil War -- 618,000 casualties
WWI -- 116,516 casualties
WWII -- 295,000 casualties
Vietnam -- 50,000+ casualties
Korea -- 54,246 casualties
Desert Storm -- 378 casualties (August 1990 - February 1991, a minute fraction of how long the Iraq War has drawn out).

Iraq War -- 1,764 casualties (.2% of Civil War casualties, 1.5% of WWI casualties, .5% of WWII casualties, 3.2% of Vietnam casualties, 3.3% of Korean War casualties, 4.5 times more casualties than Desert Storm [Iraq War has lasted 5 times as long]).

Yes, it should be about people's lives. However, this war has been one of the most successful in history.

Well if we are speaking about Iraq, then in that case there are no WOMD in Iraq...we found that out a long time ago.

To answer your question:

Robert Lewis, who was scribing events and riding on the Enola Gay, the B-29 that dropped the first atomic bomb, wrote this:

"My God, what have we done?"

That is why we don't want anyone else using them. No one, not even Oppenheimer, knew what destruction that bomb would do. Only the United States knows what it feels like to have the guilt, and remorse of plowing down 100,000 people in a matter of minutes.

It would make sense that the United States would be the country trying to prevent it from ever happening again, wouldn't it?

So by not supporting any war, you're saying that say the nazis build up again, and invade america, your not going to support us going to war with thme in defense of our nation? you ppl need to think through different scenarios of war b4 saying u don't support any war.

That last statement is not so; mainly because it is not the United States. The United States stays constant, of course; but what is controlling it? It doesn't happen to be people that grow through trials in themselves to find what is wrong and right, would it?

First, tell me how perfect humans are in their decisions. Tell me, people can try and try, but in the end, their opinions of a matter take over in the end.

Tell me, again, has war perfected itself; or is it still war?

All I intended to answer in my last statement was this question:

'Why is it okay that the United States deals with WMD's and no other country?'

You're swaying off course here. My whole argument was showing how the United States is so unperfect that it wants to keep others from making the same mistake. Decades later, people still feel remorse for the Japanese.

The people = the United States, so I was simply talking about our country as a whole.

Truman didn't drop the A-Bomb, everyone in the United States did.

Hm, wait, mind me for a second.

The United States wants other countries not to make the same mistake?

What mistake was Iraq intending of doing?
I'm honestly confused.

Tell me again what Hussein agreed to do, but did not do, that necessitated an invasion and long-term occupation of his country?

I support the war in Iraq, why? because the war in Iraq was necassary to disrupt terrorist related activity. It was one of the only poltically safe places to retalliate. If the sleeping giant sleeps to long people will forget how powerful it really is and attack. We need to remain known as the world power to protect our shores from attack.
