They arne't potential criminals after they kill someone; they're already criminals.

When we punish them, we punish them for what they already did, not for what they MIGHT do in the future.

wow. you are my GOD. i agree with everything you've said so far on createblog, i couldn't have said any of it better myself.

Well...there's all that grief, pain, depression from the future victims' families...you can stop it by killing the criminals who deserve to die (heh yeah I know, opinion).

Future victims? Where does that come into play? and.. how do we determine which criminals "deserve" as you put it, to die?

I'm for death penalty.
I mean, who cares if the con repented? The fact still remains that he murdered someone.

*believes in the saying, " an eye for an eye" *

if we had "eye for an eye" our whole world wuld b blind ((blinder)) im against it..theres alwayz the chance that the person is not actually guilty...n i believe we dont have a rite to take sume1 elses life...just b/c they killed someone DOES NOT give us the rite to kill them..i think they shuld b put in prision for the rest of their life...n not have such good tratements like they have((that we pay for with tazes)) but i think only God shuld choose when a person leaves Earth...
also...i learned the other day...do u know when they give ppl a lethal injection...they steralize the needle??? i mean hey we have to steralize it or the person mite DIE

Ok several things..
QUOTE

that i agree with _smile.gif
QUOTE
theres alwayz the chance that the person is not actually guilty...

well what if there was undeniable proof that they were guilty, as in, caught on tape murdering several people?
QUOTE
i think they shuld b put in prision for the rest of their life...n not have such good tratements like they have((that we pay for with tazes))

not have good treatment.. wouldnt that be kind of inhumane?
QUOTE

um... what? isnt the point of lethal injection to kill someone?

so if someone were to say.. make a "mistake" of murdering hundreds of ppl, do you think they should still live?

heh I see.. so how do you think they should be treated?

Well... they're using it to kill someone, clean.. wouldnt life in prison or something be not only more expensive, but merely draw out their death anyways, in a less clean way?

Well, the ones who have obviously committed a harsh felony, such as murder.

Okay, I'm certainly not going to take credit for this. About your "eye for an eye isn't right" argument:

QUOTE
There can be exceptions.

Lets say person A rapes then murder a little girl, and I want him to die through the death penalty, but I believe so much in peace and not 'an eye for an eye' and let him be jailed. Now, years later, he's paroled and when he gets out he finds some other little girl to rape and kill....

it wouldn't be an eye for an eye any more.. it'll be an eye for two eyes...  In this situation then, "an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind" cannot be applied, because two innocents have been killed.

This is from the second page from uninspiredfae.

So for the people arguing for the death penalty, would you ever consider yourself to be the person carrying it out? Would you like to be the doctor with the needle or the person who switches the electric chair on or press the button to release the poisonous gas into the gas chamber? It may not be murder under LAW but doesn't it sound a bit wrong that the law can give you PERMISSION to kill someone?

I don't think it is wrong. That perosn made the wrong decision of killing someone so they dsevre the just punishment and i wouldn't feel anything if i were the person admnistering it. I know that they obviously something VERY VERY wrong, and the only just cause for the death penalty is murder.

Ok, so by your logic, murder justifies another murder, so if the executioner murders the sentenced, wouldnt the executioner be guilty of murder as well?

It isn't murder on the executioners side. The executioner did not willing kill someone, they are following the law, they did nothing wrong. Also because murder is the unlawful killing of someone. The executioner is not unlawfully killing that person

Ok, you believe in God, so I'll ask you this.. what if, someone claimed that God told them to kill someone, then they wouldnt have willingly killed someone, do they deserve to die?

Ok, but suppose God realli did tell that person to do so, and that person truly did it because God deemed it so, then what?

Why would God tell someone to kill someone? Wouldn't he do it himself?

Hmm...well, many are pro the death penalty, but does it depend on the circumstances? Because what if it was a child who committed a crime against a parent, should they receive the death penalty too?

The child knows what is right and what is wrong. When they go against what it is right and murder someone it isn't different from an adult

Dont you mean the child *doesnt* know? and well.. perhaps some adults dont know either, you can't assume that everyone was brought up to tell the difference from right and wrong.. there's not that much diff

Perhaps if a child is involved, we must first consider if this child has been influenced by an adult. If that's the case, then they both should split the punishment. Meaning, the child wouldn't get death sentence, but would not go free either, and the adult who was the 'mastermind' should also get life in prison.

I'm for capital punishment, but I also believe in exceptions to every problem.

But what if the child wasnt influenced by an adult, what if the child was say, influenced by the media or something?

everyone knows that killing someone is wrong and a crime. Murder and rape is the only thing that merits the death penalty to me
