QUOTE(BannanaQ @ Feb 7 2006, 12:10 AM)
I mean, there are other races that suffered, like the chinese(I believed they were forced to build the Great Wall, and if they didn't, they'll be great consiquence), Jews(Biblical Times), Filipino(from Spaniards), Mexicans(I believe spaniards also), etc.
*

I'd hate to be terribly Jewy, but Jews get heat all the time. Not just biblical times. We get just as much hatred now as in biblical times.

^ Yea, I was going to mention something about that. Hah. You're thinking of Jews suffering and the first thing that pops into your head is the Jews being enslaved by Babylonians? Hate to break it to you, but the Jews have been terrorized and enslaved pretty much since the time that the Jewish religion came about.

THERE IS AN ASIAN HISTORY MONTH GODDAMN

No one knows about it, thus reinforcing the point that some races get MORE recognition, perhaps too much, than others!

I heard about that long ago, but I've never known which month it is. haha.

If there were to be a White History Month, there should be a:
Hispanic History Month
Asian History Month
Middle Eastern History Month
Mixed History Month

There is a hispanic history month and a asian one.Not sure about middle eastern but i do think there is one.Now im not sure about mixed but then there are lots of mix people i mean my friend is half-euro and half-mex.i know lots of others. So i dont think there could be a mix because mix between what races?

Now other months include that i have seen are:

native american
irish-american
italian-american
scottish-american(either that or polish)

Just look up on google. There are many other months yet they dont get reconize.Where i live only black history month get reconize and sometimes Women's History month.I think that is where people go wrong. There are other months out there but they just dont get all the attention as black history month. At least where i live that is.May be diff where u live.

Exactly. To quote Samuel Jackson, we really have no need for such a month. I have nothing against African-Americans, but honestly, I think it may even be pushing racism.

It makes them distinguishable, like there's a difference between Blacks, Whites, Asias, Spanish, etc. It is fine to celebrate your culture, that's just one thing that makes America so wonderful, but when you assign one month to a single culture, it makes it look as if there's this huge gap, and there isn't.

i think its fair.

back in the "old" days..when slavery was still here, the whites treated blacks like shit. many people suffered and blacks should be reconized.

if there was a white history month, then there should be an asian history month. or a latino history month. or european history month.

no offense to whites, but whites get it good. theyve got everything and hardly need to worry about racism.

If you read the SAME PAGE YOU POSTED ON, and maybe a little bit of the page before it to see what was going on in the topic as you're posting, maybe you would know that the statement that you made has been refuted time and time again. It's really NOT all that hard to at least know where the topic's going. You would think that in 30 pages, some things have been repeated, yes; however, when it's repeated on this very page, you should be able to see that and not make the mistake of posting it.

Not all whites got it good(only whites i know got it good are all blonde-no offense)
Not all of them are rich.Where i live we got latinos, asians, blacks who are way better off then some whites. So that is just a lie to say they all got it good.Well then maybe it's the ones who are fully white.
Also there is a asian and a latino month, not to mention a italian-american an irish-american and i think a polish american month. They just dont get reconize. But i dont think there should be months because well i know some people that say just because its their history month they dont have to do anything and others have to be nice to them and do whatever they say. Also they say they cant get in trouble. Now is that not wrong?Just because it's your history month shouldnt mean you get special privelages.

Also some people say that having history months is some form of racism/discrimination.

I'm going to repeat the argument for the sake of clearing up things (and because I haven't posted in a while). Don't hate me Sammi.

Whites get it good? Please refer to previous posts about Whites not getting it so good. Though it's true that they have an upper hand in quite a few things, if you've never seen a White man/woman discriminated, get out a little more.

Also, why should you read the 30 pages? It's respect for once, and two, it's in the rules.

Sammi, I was a little hasty in editing the rules last time, why don't you write a more detailed debate general rules? That way, people don't give smart responses like "why should I read... blah blah blah".

Definitely.

Do you WANT the verbal warning? Cause I'm pretty sure I can give it if you're pushing for it so much.

i've read the 30 pages.

now sure, it was as the thread went by. but there is a reason for the rule.

it's quite annoying, expecially when the threads get this long, to have people saying the same things over and over again.

"every day is white history"
"there should be an asian history month"

etc etc etc.

it also detracts from the debate.

now, i can see not reading all thirty pages. but i can't see not reading the page you're posting on. and i can't see continuing to argue. it's in the rules.

now, i'm going to close this thread, and start a new one. hopefully we'll get less repeats there.
