Okay, so I am not trying to be racist or anything, but who here agrees with me that the black people are getting way more recognition than the whites?

Now we have black history month, black activists month, and negro colleges/college funds? This is just not fair.

Everyone believes that if we have a white history month then we will be racist? We aren't. Blacks are getting everything nowadays and if the white people try to put say into anything, it gets shoved back in our face as a racist comment.

I love black history and everything, but I have pride in being white and we get no recognition whatsoever? Does anyone agree with me..

And please don't say I am being racist. I live in the South for God's sake.

black history month promotes the idea that blacks are different. either superior or inferior.

true equality will never be achived as long as race is still considered.

we need no white ppl holiday.

White people are from all over. They don't all come froma general place originally (i.e. Africa, for Black people.) A "white history" would be an inaccurate term and would not cover all the places white people have been. A more specific placement of the white person (a certain fountry, for example) would be more acceptable, because it would be targeting a certain line of history, rather than an entire race, just because of the color, not where they'd been,.

this may be wrong, but I believe in the Triagular Trade, some poeple in Africa sold their own people to the next leg of the trade, so they weren't all in fact, kidnapped...

No, there has not been a black president. That would be why you haven't studied one. That is not to blame "racist American school systems," or the "every month is white history month."


As I've said before, there should not be a "White History Month" because white people, came from all over. A history of a certain place such as "eastern European white History" may be more appropriate, because you are focusing on a place and a history, not a race solely based on skin color.

I think there was an artice in YM or Seventeen about a girl who tried to start a White History Club. She got in trouble with people, because instead of choosing a certain type of white history, it was just the skin color she was basing the club on.. I'll try to find a link..

its more because of slaverly and the discrimination that happened. i think that many do deserve recognition, but i dont see why just being born black should make a difference... its the kind of like i think you should get recognition from the things you do as a person in general.

what annoys me, is that not all white people did do that. i'm learning about slaverly in a sort of elective class...its about the civle war. about half the class is black, half white. it seems like when they talk about all the awful things the white people did...i should feel bad. and i do feel bad that it happened, but its not like i wanted that to happen. its not like i could have stopped it, not being there. i dont like receiving blame for what a more oblivious generation did. for the carlessness on how the treated them...i dont understand how i could be added into the blame just for what i was born into..

and just because your white, you shouldn't be included in the discriminist catagory. there were SO MANY white people completely agaisnt slavery. how does anyone think its stopped. the north outnumber the south by ALOT on getting rid of slavery. i doubt my ancesters were involved at all in it considering my family is from rhode island and sweden.

and Azn Kid from NY it actually started out as a compromise..the africans agreed to do it actually..but it was for a set amount of time. the deal fell trhough though and went overboard

and, will you all PLEASE read the rest of the thread BEFORE you post. i've already suggested about jewish people. most of them are white, and most of their ancestors were from europe, as were most white people in general. so don't suggest that we make one for white people from one area. white people came from europe. europe and america are where white people are now. they are not from everywhere. eastern euroasian people are from eastern euroasia, asian people are from asia, and african people are from africa. oh, and if you really wanna be nit-picky, australian people and south african people are white, but HEY they came from europe too, specifically holland and the united kingdom.

The reasons there has not been a black president is because blacks are still a minority. MINORITY means LESS THAN ANOTHER GROUP.

We can go around and around with this subject. I just think white people won't ever know how black history month affects them unless they are black themselves. My dad is black and I am proud to be both, black and filipino.

If Whites do not know what it's like to be Blacks, then Blacks do not know what it's like to be White. In today's world, Whites suffer reverse discrimination that is COMOPLETELY LEGAL, and a lot of them has NOTHING to do with slavery or racism.

if black people coem from africa, whch they do, then why, under your own arguement, is it acceptable to celebrte the race ioutdie of the homeland? if its not ok to have white history month because whites didnt originate in america, then you really ought to keep in mind that black people didnt either...

it doenst jsut cover the jews, but also gypsies, gays, handicapped, and the millions of others killed by the nazis

and not everyone has something, which is what's been pointed out throughout the entire debate. white people don't. NO, NOT EVERY MONTH IS WHITE HISTORY MONTH. american history may be prodominately white, but that's not recognizing white people for being white. in history, there was a lot more discrimination and close-mindnedness, but that's HISTORY. that's not now. that's why you see a lot of white people in america's history. america was basically all white. of course you would. that's recognizing those people for being american, not white. black history month and asian-american history month and etc. recognize these people for being the race that they are. white people don't have that.

president's day doesn't exist anymore. it now coincides with martin luther king day, making great americans day. includes both races.

that is recongnizing them as presidents, not whites.

Slavery should be remembered so that ppl learn a lesson but it's true, i don't think there should be a day to celebrate black history (but you should admit that white history is kinda...brutal... with all the conquering and killing and stuff)
