Okay here is the deal. I asked my bf if he thinks i'm pretty or beautiful(to me pretty means i'm just some average looking girl to him but beautiful means i'm more then everything to him, if that makes any sense) anyways so when i asked he said that i'm shallow. how am i shallow if i think i'm neither and that i'm shit? i mean to me from my understanding shallow people are people who only like good looking people and who think they are the best looking people i.e basically some movies stars and some super models.... notcie how i use "some" anyways what do u think.. do u think it was shallow of me to ask my bf if i was just pretty or if he thought i was beautiful? im just curiouse to his opinion of what he really thinks of me..bla

i think he didn't mean shallow as in you only associate with good-looking people, he meant that it was shallow to ask him if you're beautiful..

Maybe he just thought it was shallow to place so much importance on looks? Maybe he thinks you're totally georgous, but have a better personality and should be more proud of that? But... since he's your bf, he really should've just said you are beautiful.

woot! a topic about shallowness. naw, i think he used the wrong word when he called you shallow. he wants you to know that he's into you not for loooks but for who you are

i agree w/ tungtwista, shallow wasn't the right word because you weren't obsessive about your looks, you just wanted his opinion

i think it's shallow to ask for compliments. why wuold u ask someone if ur pretty or beautiful? for one, they both mean the same thing. and second, why would u beg for attention?

erm i'm kind of the shy type and is sort of self-concious all the time..my friends say i let people walk all over me to much but sometimes i dont even realize that..so yeah erm.

holy crap. that`s like...one of the top ten things NOT to ask your boyfriend.

why don`t you let him NATURALLY tell you that you`re beautiful? why must you ask him? it`s just TOO MUCH PRESSURE for a guy.

You should've asked him if you were gorgeous. That's practilly the highest it can go.

Of course you're not shallow! He probably just toook it that looks were everything or something. Maybe explain to him what you meant.

this guy was like to me, "you're pretty." and im like, "no im not.. ><" and he's like, "fine your ugly." and im like, "yup!" and he's like, "your.. different." and i was like, "yup!" and i left. lol. weird day =/ i dunno.. i get offended when people call me cute and junk.. =/ maybe your boyfriend gets offended because of questions involving looks. =p maybe he doesn't think looks are that important =)

well he didnt know *pretty* was *average*. making you seem conseted (sp?) and shallow, only trying to hear from people to say that your beautiful sooo...if you asked me tht question without telling me pretty means average to you, i would think ur shallow too

well it seems that you're acting like he's shallow, more than you being shallow. Unless of course if he thinking you're pretty means a lot to you....in that case, it is pretty shallow, but you know what? we're all shallow, people need to get used to it. Miss Universe didn't get to be Miss Universe by being a smart, or by being a geek.

well prolly the way you sed it sounded superficial. but you should NEVER ask a guy that they either say you look pretty or it goes without saying.
