My essay is due tomorrow and I'm like..brain dead. What I have so far is so..crappy. -.- Stupid argumentive essay.

Anyway, could anyone think of a couple ideas or reasons why people should learn other people's cultures instead of just staying to their own? So far, I have that they could learn from each other. And that's it.

Help please!!

You'll become more exposed and more open to other cultures if you show some interest in them.

That's all I can come up with.. =/

well, it's important to the individual. i mean, exposure to other cultures, opinions, values, etc. opens up the mind.. allows you to develop new views. and it's important for progress! many developing nations are beginning to value education and women's rights because of globalization and exposure to western culture. also, it makes people more tolerant. just listed some reasons; you can expand on it yourself. afterall, this is your essay. _smile.gif

If this helps.. okay.
[I think I did an essay on this before in 5th grade.]

You should learn from other;s peoples cultures because it's like expieriencing [sp?] a new challenge and something new. It makes you understand someone else who is the same culture. You can understand that person more. You'll defintly expierience some cool new stuff and learn a lot. You can learn interesting junk and so and so.

yeah, corny, but that's all I could think of in 5 mins.

remember that "expand" doesn't mean repetition so try not to repeat one idea over and over again. teachers hate that.

you could put examples to "expand". maybe research something about another culture and explain how some traditions of that culture help to enrich our understanding of their way of life and, in the process of learning, we may improve ours.

They could learn something new from them. Also they could learn some languages for the future use. It's great to know about their cultures because they can relate something with each other?

Hm... I'm usually good at essays, but I can't really think of one. Mostly I have to write it to get all the ideas. But I won't let you cheat haha.

While expanding your horizons and views of different cultures, you're developing many skills along the way. You're developing social skills as well because as your mind expands to different ideas and different perspectives, you can correlate those ideas to withstand any given issue. Issues such as discrimination. If you're only set to your own culture, you wouldn't be able to understand this concept clearly, and would be ignorant to the fact that this still precedes to affect our society in many ways. However, with the knowledge of other cultures, the obtained input on these issues can serve for a better basis for our society, while providing you knowledge of current events that have been masked with other issues such as politics.
Issues such as politics have been adapted with different cultures. They get involved with international affairs and politicians [although some more close-minded than others] have to understand the crisis of other countries in their cultural perspective. For example, when the country of Nicaragua was offered aid by the US to overcome a crisis that they had since they were in deficit, this shows that the knowledge of the cultural issues, such that this is a third-world country, helps elevate the important issues that surround us. Without knowledge of these issues, and other cultures, we'd be close-minded and subjected to following a redundant routine of blandness and ignorance.

:]
Hope that helped...whoa I got inspired.

.... And how would this post help her??? ....

... Anyways, I agree with uninspiredfae, when she said "you could put examples to "expand". maybe research something about another culture and explain how some traditions of that culture help to enrich our understanding of their way of life and, in the process of learning, we may improve ours. "

Figure out how other cultures have helped developed ours.. Don't try to focus on every little detail and all cultures--there'd be too much. Research particular cultures that have influenced us and how they've influenced you. Don't just talk abuot the world.. How has learning about a different culture AFFECTED YOU? Although you may just be one person, you could still be affected and whatnot...

example ......

people make rubber
they make bike tire out of rubber
now they move on to advance tech. they started make tires out of rubber.
rubber at the buttom of the shoes
rubber for the play ground so kids doesnt get hurt..

all the basic ideas carries over and it becomes more better and advancer
