Do you believe that people often living in poor areas are mostly likely to commit a crime all the time? In history class, my teacher said no and i totally agree. Crimes can happen anywhere in the US. it dosent always have to be a poor area like the ghetto and stuff..it dosent matter..what do you guys think? I think of this really confusing too

There is no victim in that scenario. That should not be a crime.

actually, they commit the same percentages of crimes, it's just that poor people get public defenders, and rich people get good lawyers who get them off.

Considering the percentage of poor people outweight the percentage of rich people about 9:1 if not more its impossible for the richer class to commit the same amount of crimes

same percentage, not same number.

meaning that if there are 10 rich and 10,000 poor, then the rich would commit 1/1000 the amount of crimes as poor, which would mean if each person committed one crime, that's same percentage. (100%)

crimes can happen anywhere. it's so sterotypical for people to say that it happens in poor communities.

No they don't, the percentage even brought to trial is much higher for poor people.

There is no denying that the highest murder rates are all in poor communities and to a greater extent, in poor states.

it's all a scheme by rich people to make poor people look bad.

as for my stats... 70% of all stats are made up. i don't clain responsibility.

` yes, poor people steal more; because why do people steal? because they can't buy it by themselves, or they enjoy the rush.

if you had 100 billion dollars, would you still steal a car radio to sell?

How could it NOT be more likely in the ghetto? If you're stinking rich, you'll go out and hire a hooker... if you're a bum.. then you'd be more likely to rape someone...

I've lived in both a very rich area and a very very poor area and I can tell you I feel a lot safer in the rich area. At my old school in a poor town, fights happened every 2-3 days. Now they happen every 2-3 months.

I live, in a wealthier neighborhood then some of the ppl I go to school w/ and am amazed at how many fights they had at their old school - like 1 everyday. I have seen what, 2 in a year at my new school, (at a very rich area).

And where I live, I'm not afraid of getting my house robbed. (where they clean out ur house - dvd, stereo, tv, jewlery, money, while ur gone somewhere for a few hours). But the poor neighborhoods, you have to put ur keys in a safe place, always lock your doors, lock your windows and all that stuff... When I watch the satillite at New York News, they have TONS of murders a day at poor areas and it seems causal to them. Here in San Diego, It's huge news when 1 person gets killed.

So i think that it's true - Poor places, has ppl that will commit more crimes.

Rich ppl - martha, and some bussiness stuff - but thats not as common. They cheat and stuff, but thats not a crime. They just sue the hell out of the other person, so they don't need murder.

You don't understand. It's not just in poor places, but crime is more likely to happen in poor areas. Crime is more prevalent there because in most cases, people are less educated or lack the resources to survive.

i agree with you. you shouldn't judge people. Just because they live in a poor area doesn't mean they're more likely to commit a crime. For all anyone knows, they could be extremely friendly people. It's just the area that makes them look bad.

No I dont believe that.... anyone can steal... even the insanely rich people they just dont have what it takes to do theft's and such.... most of them anyway.

I live in a an area where there areas arounda re remotely poor and there is barely any burglaries or theft's going on, and I live in Los Angeles California. The state and city with the highest crime rate is Washington second being New York... statsically anyway

absolutely not, Crime happens everywhere but i was reading this magazine and it said that 3 out of 5 people are killed in nice parts of the town or city because its more likely that no one will ever find out. So yeah, where i live its a latino based community (next to chicago) and people just assume that there's a lot of crime hera but in reality there isnt. so anywho, crime happens everywhere.

no. first half= correct, second half=idealistic, not realistic

most cleptos (no clue how to spell that) are either rich or upper-middle classed. they do it for the thrill, or whatever. like drugs. ever see the OC? (ok, i havent but most people have...)

also, statisticaly, black people commit more crime too. which i think is a small part of the people are scared of black people, because of all the stuff that goes on "up in da hood!" lol. i think its wrong to discriminate against black people just b/c of that stupid statistic. grrr i hate racism.
*

Well... more black people commit crime because more black people live in poverty. It has little to do with race, it has more to do with economic status.

Well, I have nothing much else to say since most of you have covered it already.
