That's the amazing thing about Gaga. She's not only an incredibly talented artist, she is also an entertainer who can keep people talking. There are so people who can sing really well, but can't hold a candle to Gaga because they're boring as f*ck.

I'll admit that I initially didn't like Gaga at all. Her extremeness scared the shit out of me and I thought she was nothing but a synthesized singer like half the popular singers these days. But then I saw clips of her singing live with nothing but a piano and a microphone and was blown away. Call her a fake all you want, Gaga's truly the real deal.

but i want to go to her parties :(

i wasn't a fan of gaga either, not because she's eccentric, but her music didn't appeal to me at first. i started to like her more after these church kids were discussing how weird the video for bad romance was.

So...how exactly is Lady Gaga at all special? She's Madonna reborn. It's rubbish to attribute her wardrobe or performance to solely her; it's all the producers. You can see the heavy (almost plagiarized) influence in every one of her videos. She could sing Moby Dick and her hardcore puppet fans would still drool over her.

you say she's not special, yet there are people out there who are still shocked by her eccentricity. she's making theatricality mainstream, and that in itself is a big deal. it doesn't matter if half the world has seen it already; the other half obviously wasn't ready for it yet.

and with popular artists, that's how it usually goes. the producers and people who are really responsible for her success will stay in the background, while the artist or icon head gets the glory. that's just how it is.

Exactly. She is mainstream and that's why people are shocked. This has been going on for generations, but it's merely because someone who decides to mix synthetic music with something "uncustomary" that people are drooling and gasping. Look at Tool; they're popular with a certain demographic, but they do things 10x as weird as Lady Gaga. They simply don't get the spotlight as much because the style of music doesn't appeal to as broad an audience. (I'm not saying Tool is the only band to do something other than the norm; that's just the first to pop into my head.)

The process behind becoming obviously successful in the music industry is simple: if you can allure and charm the preteen crowd, you'll eventually latch the rest who just don't give a shit about anything else. There's nothing heartfelt about her lyrics. It's only because this generation doesn't focus as much on education as much as it used to that people aren't as attracted so intellect. Music is no longer poetic composition; now, if it's worthy enough to get people into a club to grind against each other, that's all that matters. Simply put, Lady Gaga is not new.

lol, typical mainstream media bashing, just surface arguments, might as well say all Americans are money hungry yanks. In your attempt to sound smart, you've generalized all people and music into categories. Really? this generation is dumb? You realize there are baby boomers that still don't know how to operate a computer or pass a high school US history test right? lmao@ music is no longer poetic, im not even gonna comment on that

she was never new to begin with. whole point is she doesn't want to be worship as a pop singer who wants to look good or just do shit for no reason. she doesn't want to be glorified as an icon. she's just doing what she wants to do for her fans. can you find someone else that consecutively says they do everything for their fans and their fans only? gaga doesn't give a rats ass about the music industry, mainstraim stuff, or her own record ppl. she ignored her director when he thought dance in the dark should have been a single instead of alejandro. why? cuz of her fans appreciated alejandro more.

oh and she doesn't have a directed type of audience. she doesn't make songs for preteens. she makes songs cause she wants to express herself and put emphasis on certain subjects. who cares if tool does 10x or even 10000000x weirder stuff than gaga. it's about the message she's trying to raise for people.

*ahem* Thanks for proving my point. Adult literacy rates in the US have fallen in the past 20 years. :)
mainstream
(n.) - the principal or dominant course, tendency, or trend
(adj.) - belonging to or characteristic of a principal, dominant, or widely accepted group, movement, style, etc.

No where did I "bash" mainstream media. I simply stated that because she's popular, more people know of her, and more people are shocked. A band with 10 fans could perform nude while slashing the necks of puppies, but hardly anyone would be shocked by that, because it is not of the mainstream.

For the same reason you don't care that Tool (or other bands) are different, I don't care that you're a fan of Gaga. I listen to her music. What bothers me is that fans will fight to the death defending the "honor" of someone they don't know. Because of how far they'll go to defend Lady Gaga, it makes me wonder why she's so special to deserve such treatment. I'd be willing to bet all of my limbs that if you were as dedicated other bands/artists as much as you are to Lady Gaga, you would find that there are many who are as or more in tune with their work and audience as Gaga is. Though, I would like to learn your rationale behind your claims. Who's to say it isn't a marketing tactic, for her to flaunt about how much she hates the industry? In history, the more someone brags loyalty to their employer (nation, fans, etc.), the more likely it's not as true as they want you to believe.

Of course, I could just be way off, being that she's mainstream pop the rate of to-the-death fans is just that of lesser-known artists. Still, it feels like she's getting a disproportionate amount of response. You could go on a tech blog and find posts about her.

You're fun. xD

intelligence (n.) - capacity for learning, reasoning, understanding, and similar forms of mental activity; aptitude in grasping truths, relationships, facts, meanings, etc.

Remember saying I was generalizing "all people and music into categories"? Those are called "genres." I assume you can look that up? Sarcasm aside, look at the past. Hell, you could even do it by decades of the modern era if you don't want to do it throughout human history. Popular music revolved around lyrics, then transformed into seeing how hard one could strum a guitar before their fingers bled, then resorting to regurgitated lyrics over stale melodies. Now it's a profession to splice two audio files of bass tones together. How can you possibly argue against that when you can see it yourself firsthand?

You're bothered by fans who support their artist because they don't know them? I'm sure most of her fans don't know how she is in person, but we still know who she is in general and what her views, goals, achievements, etc. are for her. She doesn't get special treatment. Well maybe she does to all the people that like to bash on her. Some fans love GaGa and they see her as their hero. I see her as one of my heroes, so of course whoever are big fans of GaGa will go out and defend her. It's not special treatment, it's called standing up for what you believe in and support in. You listen to her music, but do you listen to her interviews also? Maybe she gets that "special treatment" is because she's a very artistic woman who knows how to handle a conversation. Like I said, she doesn't want to have anything to do with being in the spotlight. You might as well lose all your limbs because there's no other artist that I would find that would surpass my love for GaGa. For other bands that do stuff as GaGa then that's good for them. I could care less.

It's not a marketing tactic to how she thanks us as fans and appreciating who we are as ourselves. It's not like she's trying convince us to keep buying her CD's. Saying thank you to her fans and appreciating them for who they are is a marketing tactic? She doesn't hate the freakin' music industry. I never said she did, I said she could give a rat's ass ( in other words, care less ) about what the music industry does. The only marketing tactic I ever see from her is when she uses name-brand products for her music videos. ( for example, bad romance had the vodka, monster headphones, mcqueen's high heels ) Ok, even if she didn't thank us, there would still be a large amount of people who would continue to buy her music for what it is. And about that history comment..ok? Who are your claims for that comment? Are they someone that's part of the music industry? How do you know that Gaga will be one of those people will end up as one of those people? She doesn't just brag about it, ugh, she says what she does. Do you see how much effort she puts into her creations, songs? (Yes, she actually writes her songs with those catchy allusions.) She worked her ass off at the age of 4 where she first got into music. Do you think that's bluffing? She had to work multiple jobs to support money for her demos and to go to shows to have her name get noticed. Her family was not poor, but she sure did have to support herself when her family didn't agree on some actions she did to get "The fame."

And I think you're just over thinking about GaGa. Of course she would be on a tech blog, it's not like all tech people don't listen to pop. Of course she would be on 4chan or whatever site that's on the interwebz. I think you're just tired of hearing GaGa.

edit:
i take that back. she hates certain "people" in the industry that are homophobic.

It's human tendency. You look at the history of ancient nations, and in *most* cases, those who brag about how loyal they are typically traitorous. As a species, humans don't change. Individuals do, which is why I'm not pointing fingers at Lady Gaga and saying she's a lying bitch; it's just the way you were describing her was reminisce of many other circumstances.

Probably. But then, hearing about her relentlessly every day (not on cB, because I'm not ever really on cB) kind of implies that she is getting some kind of special treatment. A million other bands and artists that do as much as she does, but I never hear about them. So why her? That's all I'm asking. I'm not trying to shove a shotgun down the throat of people who like her.

It's a bit blind and close minded? Okay, let me try to defend the honor of my post to death. You could try and persuade me with any type of artist that's like GaGa but I still wouldn't be loving to them towards GaGa. I'm not close-minded against other artists. I listen to other artists, yeknow. Just sayin' they don't have that craving I have for GaGa.

No where in my earlier post did I mention anything about hate whatsoever, so I don't know where you got hate from.

Okay. Just thought before that statement was out of hand. I see it that you were going to say that Lady GaGa was going to be one of those people who are just fraud or disloyal.

That sounds pretty close minded to me. I think she has the right to be on anything whatever the owner of the site or whoever the hell manages a blog gives permission. She's not just about music. She's also working with electronics such as Polaroid for digital cameras. Her headphones would also count as electronics.

Ugh, just because someone down the street talks about her doesn't mean she's getting special treatment. People talk about other things too, like BP, economy, Obama, their senator, etc. I know plenty of people that talk about other artists besides GaGa. Like Phoenix, Ke$ha, Kanye, Beyonce, La Roux, Linkin Park, Glee, Mariah Carey, JUSTIN BIEBER, Hannah Montana, etc. Okay you don't wanna shove a shotgun down her fans but it seems like you want to shove a shotgun down GaGa's throat.

lady gaga finds some way to make herself uglier and uglier with everything she releases, yet insists on using on using overt sexual themes despite being f*ck ugly and dressed like a 7 year old who bathed in glue and ran around an arts and crafts store.

The fact that someone attended art school doesn't absolve them of having bad taste. her fans are suffering from a grand case of emeperor's new clothes syndrome. lady gaga is an incredible waste of talent.

I think it's hard to compare any two artists unless it's something really generic like ...but then again no one will admit to being "generic. I think both Katy & Gaga have amazing voices, but Gaga puts on a show that's out of this world!
