lol so what is that, participation + attendence = 100% of your grade, awesome! projects + papers what he said. tests are just a pain to me. 90% of my tests i don't need to study to do ok but i need to study to do good. so i kinda suck at studying because in the back of my mind i know that i'll probably get a B or C without spending the time. it makes it where i don't feel that motivated. other than italian class, which i have to study for non stop and i still f*ck up the tests badly. so i hate tests all around. I'm the exact opposite lol. I always lose/forget hw but I do really good on tests/essays. yeah i don't lose stuff very much. i like homework becuase you have a lot of time to do it and think it out. |

I'm the opposite. If I only had tests, I would be finishing at the top of my class. It's the other work that gets me.

Depends for me. In English and history classes I survive off test but in Spanish I only pass because of homework and projects

It completely changed in college, though. Professors give me consistent A's on essays and projects, and I never study for the tests tilt he morning of because of college related distractions. |

lol so what is that, participation + attendence = 100% of your grade, awesome! lol wouldn't that be nice?I hate tests, too. I think it's because I have to cram a bunch of facts and sometimes I don't even really know what material is going to be covered. Sometimes the professors will let us know, but I hate it when we cover 5 chapters and the test questions include a bunch of sections from chapters 2-3 and only one section of chapter 5 and nothing from chapters 1 and 4. I feel like I study for nothing, then. |

I get no CalGrants or money from FAFSA (basically no financial aid at all) I opted to go to City for cc. ![]() Dang, wtf you should've gone to UCSD. That way you could just commute = save money instead of paying for dorming. I'm just scared of my ochem class. I basically took a year off from taking ochem, lol. I'm so behind! ![]() |

Professors give me consistent A's on essays and projects, and I never study for the tests tilt he morning of because of college related distractions. Couple of days ago a teacher asked me to redo a creative writing essay because she thought it was too far-fetched. It was only a few pages, but I could have spent that hour and a half doing something more important. |

i'm enjoying my journalism classes, but not news editing. i thought i would like it, but we just look at grammar and stuff ALL THE TIME and i'm tired of it already. and i'm enjoying my french literature class more, even though i didn't like it the very first day. That's cool. What sort of journalism are you into, and what do you want to do with it? |

online classes = heaven What do you like about them? I don't think I could get into online classes. Aside from the lack of extrinsic motivation, I think I'd miss the in-person interaction with other students -- I think that's really the bread-and-butter of college. Plus college (and even high school), for me, was about a lot more than merely classes -- it provided a way to socialize with others and meet people with similar interests, or an extracurricular context in which to discuss and debate ideas. |

the fact that it's easier, tbh. sure, maybe you're not learning much by using a book and internet on multiple choice tests, but it doesn't matter to me.

Thanks for the kind words Steph, JC and Christina! I'm feeling a lot better now. MAJOR MOOD SWINGS lately.
I took a philosophy course online, symbolic logic I think it was. Total crapshoot of a course, only took it to boost my GPA, so the online aspect of the course was something I enjoyed very much. I can't imagine having to sit through a class with a professor teaching me about this crap, or meeting tedious people who take it for pleasure. =_= I was open to taking another online course this year, either in another phil subject or earth and ocean science, both simple to learn by yourself. But I definitely wouldn't take anything of importance online, like managerial economics or accounting. |

But the majority of the students would complain about it while we were waiting for class to start. We had to write papers instead of taking tests, but we had a test for our exam. Even though I got A's on my papers, I wouldn't be able to tell you a damned thing about what I wrote about lol I took a philosophy course online, symbolic logic I think it was. I couldn't find a class time that fit into my schedule and since I'm incredibly behind in math (and haaaaaate math) I want to get it over with. |

ahh sorry, i missed your post gigi :( i'm glad you're doing better, but just to let you know, i totally agree with this part (even though i'm not living with my family now):
been really anti-social, hate school, hate boys, hate commuting to school, hate not seeing my friends as often as I'd like, hate living with my family, hate not being independent, hate life, everything sucks. |

I think I would like the more abstract parts of Philosophy more than the logical. The one I took was all extremely common-sense knowledge and very very tedious. Kind of like watered-down math, actually. But I think I would've hated being evaluated on my Philosophy papers! And as much as I disliked phil last year, I'm taking another form of the subject again this year, but not online. Hopefully the professor is good enough to pique my interest. omgaw! How dare you insult math! >:@ Haha if you didn't know, math = all time favourite subject. I just can't take it anymore cus I'm scared of taking courses full of obnoxious douchebags (all the math majors I've met are complete d-bags, yes). Teesa - ilu! Although I feel better, the part you quoted is still how I feel. UGH. Really don't see this being a good year. |

I took Logic and Symbolic Logic (separately) too, back in the day. I think both (Symbolic Logic especially) were very useful.

Although I feel better, the part you quoted is still how I feel. UGH. Really don't see this being a good year. I had to write papers about Compatibilism, objective moral reasoning, universal truths, Mill, Kant, Hume... all that good stuff. I was always kind of nervous about handing in my papers because my professor was so knowledgeable about it. She always wanted me to go into more depth in my papers. I know you love math! You want to do mine? I'm only in College Algebra. I was in Intermediate Algebra last year. I'm really bad at math. I didn't take any math classes after my Sophomore year of high school because I had a terrible teacher. She would get irritated and turn off the overhead and we'd never get our notes. I tried to ask her for help once, and she told me "Maybe you're just too stupid to be in my class." ![]() |
