I finally finished revamping my website theme, after debating on it for about a week. I wanted to try something darker and more elegant-feeling than my previous theme. I also got around to switching to Wordpress. I like the system much better than Cutenews, although it was harder to work with at first. Anyways, I'm really proud of how it turned out. Tbh, I was scared of posting in here in case someone chewed me out for doing something wrong >___< lol. Always good to get some feedback though. Comments? Criticism?

Version 1:

Version 2:
Added center section background, changed center section margins, changed text color, increased kerning

Don't be afraid to post your work, people usually give really useful feedback.

In my opinion (and how I see it on my computer) the white text with the black background is a little hard on the eyes. Maybe try a darker white (but not gray). I also think the content area looks a little cluttered. Maybe if you changed the background color on the content and update sides it would look a little less overwhelming. But I do think that your site is very well organized.

I changed the white to a darker shade; I'll update the screenshot if I make more major changes. And I can see what you guys mean about the cluttered look. What did you mean by change the background color? Like add a lighter background behind those sections, or lighter/darken/change the current background behind all the content? Should I change the margins of the main section as well?

The margins seem fine to me. Making the middle section have a little bit lighter background will help separate the 3 areas more. I love the header font, what is it?

Aw don't be scared to post in here. Your work is nice :)

Yeah I pretty much agree that it's a bit too dark and the white text pops out too much. Your layout contradicts itself and not really in a good way :/ And yes it looks too cluttered. But I like your idea. Very nice. flowers.gif

I think you should change the white to that pinkish color like in your navigation. I agree with Abbey as well with making the middle have a little brighter background in it. Oh, and btw Abbey, I have a font like that called Secret Code. thumbsup.gif

Your text is too crammed together, the individual words have no room to breathe. If you ease up on the kerning of the letters, it'd improve legibility and you might not even have to change the white font color.

I changed the margin for the middle section anyways, it looked a lot better when I added the background. That font is Helvetica Neue Ultra Light - I used all caps and increased the kerning.

I like the dark, so I'm keeping it that way. I changed the color of all the text, though, to a lighter shade of the left column links color. What do you mean by contradict, Natalia? o__O

I left the default kerning at first, but you're right. I've increased letter-spacing by 1px and then decreased word-spacing by 1px.

Alright, what font are you using, apparently I don't have it installed for some reason.

It's probably a windows default font.

Lol, I used Helvetica for the body text and Helvetica Neue Light for the headers. If you don't have those, it's supposed to default to Arial.

It looks great from the screenshot, but as I said in my comment to you earlier, it's a bit misaligned for me. The bullets on the nav aren't showing, and the left column is out of it's box. Also, the right column is oddly cut off. I could take a screenshot for you if you want.

Other than that, I like the design. It's a lot different than your old one. The color combination you used it one of my favorites too. :D

Now everything is fine. huh.gif Maybe it's an IE7 thing. I'm on a computer with IE8 now and everything is peachy.

...Or maybe it's just my computer? I don't know what would be wrong with it though.

Eh, sorry for the scare there, haha. hammer.gif

I finally switched to the PC partition of my Mac just to fix everything...

I hate IE. I really do.

I had to add a bunch of margin properties with a period in front (i.e. ".margin-top:auto;") to fix everything. All the links on the left and right columns as well as the updates are now aligned.

I also discovered that the content boxes for the layouts/graphics were off, so I fixed those as well. Some of the content boxes for the Myspace codes were off - I'm still trying to find a way to fix it without having to change how everything looks in Firefox.

I know layouts are supposed to be multi-browser compatible but I hate having to find workarounds every time -_________-;;

Well I usually have very little problems making things compatible for multiple browsers if things are properly validated. Says there's 66 errors. Why must xHTML go through such painful validation to look so pretty?
http://validator.w3.org/

The design itself is nice but I think the brushes are kinda overboard. I love the colors though it definitely fits with the feel of 2PM's new songs. (er... kinda new now lol) I definitely love your typography, it's bold but not distracting. The background is kinda iffy with me. I like it but I feel like I have to squint to see the stars in the background. It adds a bit of strain on my eyes (then again it's 2am for me and my room is uber dark.) Your main content font is a little too bright for me too. Overall it's a very pleasant design, nice job.

I don't know exactly know what you meant by the validation, but I checked my site using the W3 validator and cut my errors by more than a third after I replaced <br> with <br /> an stuff. I looked through the errors and there wasn't anything that affected the margin errors I was trying to fix in the first place. Most of the errors W3 found were things like forgetting to put the alt attribute in my img tags and closing off input tags with /> instead of >.

I like the brushes the way they are right now. The background is supposed to be muted like that. The original background had very bright stars and that distracted from the content, so I put a few colored layers on top to quiet the brightness. The content font has already been toned down from pure white to a soft pink, so I'm going to leave that as well.

Thanks for your input (: Appreciated.
