yo I know this is not the right place for this topic but I forgot where this goes plus I want people to see this cause it's rearry important ^____^

Aight so the time for me to get a portfolio site for my photography is dawning upon me. I was gonna design it myself but I dunno, I have a lot to do.

So I'm looking for somebody who can do a hecka baller site design for a brotha. I found one person recommended through a friend of mine, but I'm not sure if I wanna hire him. He's quoting me about $280-$330; here's some of his work

commercial:
http://www.benjaminhunter.org/main/index.html
http://www.fosakids.org/

kinda arstier:
http://jameals.com/swf/GOOD%20PORTFOLIO.swf
http://bitwisefellows.com/

aight so I'm not too sure how well his skills will translate to a more arsty design/fashion photography/-esque site

I'm looking towards a site like David LaChapelle's:
LaChapelle Studio

no flash, baller typography, easy to find things

I think I'd also want hovers and ish, but you gotta be good at fitting lot of photos without making it look cluttered

I know you ninjas is some good designers, so I'm wondering if anybody here can top him and his quoted price. Yeah, the ninja who does my design and helps me with my website management is gonna GET MONEY, GET PAID.

he's through a friend of mine though, so he has that advantage of testimony, he's also helping me out with my marketing, so you gotta be that dude/dudette

my photos:
xanga

I'll also probably take you more seriously and talk more appropriate for a serious job and ish don't worry this is serious business

Feel free to post up design suggestions too, 'cause it's hard for me to find portfolios that aren't flash or sidescrollers. oh and advise on what I should do with my website would be much appreciated

Wow, after looking, I just realized how wack this post looks.

eh, your through-a-friend designer definitely knows what he's doing, but even his artsier stuff is sort of bland and boring.

based on your photography and your style, i think mark [on cb] would be a good fit for you. or maybe bigtrey. go hit 'em upppp.

CMS = content management system (like wordpress or anything you would have installed for a blog)

lightbox = http://www.huddletogether.com/projects/lightbox2/

another example for lightbox gallery

I'd do something too. Although you'd obviously want someone more experienced. Im working on a site right now that would be perfect for a gallery and stuff.

eh I dunno

I'm indifferent about CMS ('cause I don't know much about it, I don't even use the one on wordperss) but I dunno if I like that lightbox; I'd want bigger previews like that lachapelle site

^yah, i was gonna link to your portfolio as another example lol.

the sizes aren't limited to the ones shown; it's entirely dependent on what you would like. the system is what matters (the flash-like viewing of the bigger photo). if anything, you could just link to the actual .jpg file which would open on a different window if you don't like the lightbox.

Lightbox doesn't look too bad, I'm really just concerned about ease of viewing photos

I don't know if anyone actually finished something for you. I was bored today, no work. tv is reruns.. so I designed the site.

If you do already have something, don't worry about it. I can turn this around to something else.

this is exciting!

here's another photographer's site that uses lightbox (http://www.scottandtemphotography.com/)... i like their design a lot? so neat and clean and with nice colors too :) just throwing stuff out there. i guess it's two photographers as they're married..

anyway, let us know fosho when it's done!
