I am quite a God fearing person and have been reading all the replies to this question. To masterbate just to please yourself is probably a sin, however; I have read the Book of Solomon and that guy had 700 wives. There are several references made through metaphor that he masterbated his wives or they would have oral sex. I am a Christian and I think that the church leaders have made sex in all its forms a dirty thing when in fact God intended it yes for procreation of mankind but He wanted us to have fun and pleasure also.

If sex had no pleasure with it, I think we would have been extint a long time ago.

I really don't understand how you've come to this conclusion. It sounds like you're just assuming that it's a sin. Based upon your logic here, anything you do to please yourself is a sin. Am I sinning while playing a video game or watching a movie that I enjoy, no. I'm sure you could turn masturbation into a sin if you bacame obsessed with it (just like anything else), but studies show that it's actually heathly for you to masturbate. It releaves stress, feels good, releases endofants... among other things. Masturbation just puts you in a better mood.

But that's exactly it... Sexual stimulation outside of the context of reproduction is illicit. That's why masturbation and use of condoms, birth control and other contraception is not allowed.

That bit of scripture is clearly subject to interpretation. Judah told Onan to help his brother by getting his brother's wife pregnant. Onan knew that the child would not be his own and wasted his seed so she would not get pregnant. I argue it was not "sexual stimulation outside of the context of reproduction" that angered the Lord, but it was the context in which he masturbated. He masturbated before sex so his sperm wouldn't be as potent. He didn't want to help his brother. He was being a jerk. It wasn't masturbation that angered the Lord. It was his actions towards his brother.
