Who thinks I should make youtube channel for gimp tutorials? I have only seen 2 decent ones. One of them is a 10 year old kid, no dur...and he's not that great. I can do anything he can do but better and faster and I can do way more. So I have the knowledge but there are a few things I dont... advertising and the proper equipment. I think my brother has a studio mic I can use, because If I do it i wanna look professional and have good quality because when I start watching a tutorial, if I hear dogs barking and its 10 mins long to do something simple i leave. and i need a good screen capture program. Whats the best one that shows up well on youtube? I dont care if it isnt free.

So do you think I should do it? I think I have a shot since there is a high demand and not many people delivering. I would just make sure to make atleast one each week and I wouldnt do stupid basic stuff. And I would tell people that I will take requests for tutorials and I will convert any photoshop tutorials.

What do you think?

And any other tips on how I should do it, or what I should do?

If you get to know gimp well enough (like me. hehe) you will know that everything is just done differently.

Any other suggestions?

edit;
How do you think I should do it? Should I just do everything and record it, and then speed it up a little and cut it where I need to and then record my voice as im watching, or should I do it and talk at the same time?

What do you prefer. Written tutorials or video tutorials?

I know, but I think what people want is one person they can subscribe to and get updates. and people can make requests for tutorials they want. Because a lot of those tutorials are low quality and there isn't a ton of them. I think i'll do it. I dont see why not. I dont think I'll make a website for it unless it gets really popular though. And I still prefer watching tutorials on youtube then on a website.

There are some GIMP tutorials. I have basically seen all of them, though. Many of them are just copies of other tutorials, like "How to change hair color in GIMP" .. I've seen that one maybe 10 times.

Okay so I wont make any of those. there are tons of tutorials covering the basics.
Do you think I should make more broad tutorials? like, how to manipulate two objects together. Or should I show them how to do exactly what I am doing, and have the same outcome? I think that might be better, because then i wont be making a tutorial someone else has made and people will be learning how to do stuff while they use the tutorial. So later on they will know from memory how to do stuff.

Cool idea. I say go for it.

For a screen capture program, you can try searching on google for "virtual webcam" or you can try ManyCam because that's what I had before.

Creating Gimp tutorials so that there are more available, I think is great. That being said, video tutorials really get on my nerves. Unless I'm double boxing, but I really only do that if I'm gaming.

I agree with you about video tutorials getting on your nerves but I think if I want to compete and become remotely popular I need to do video tutorials because there are many poeple out there who right gimp tutorials. Do you have an example of a video tutorial that you actually liked? Maybe ill go to tutorial cow and watch their style. There videos look really high qauility. I wonder how they do it.

O and I played around with stuff and now I know how to upload hd videos. They look really good and they are bigger. I think that will make it easier on people. Cause I hate watching low quality tutorials on youtube.

I like Tutvids' tutorials, too, though. They're photoshop as well.

but Ranash's voice is more relaxing XD Tutvid is too loud and exciting. Not a fan of that.

His voice in nice but its a little slow.
I need to find out how to zoom into stuff like they do. I think the program im using has that option. Also that guy is being too sort of detailed. He took 5 seconds saying you should make a new layer and another 8 to say, change the blending mode...
Ill record myself and work on my voice. I think I have a nice voice cause I do voicover stuff. Im pretty self conscious about it though and I dont wanna sound like a 10 year old kid.

I'm subscribed to like a 17-year-old and he sounds like he's 8..... but I still like his videos thumbsup.gif

You're right about how slow they are. It annoys me when they say.. "OK, press CTRL + Shift *insert w/e here* .. that's COMMAND + OPTION for mac"

That's just so annoying for me. They say it like 923874983274 times in the video. I think people get it by now :3

I understand what you mean about being self-conscious, though. I'm too shy to speak on vent hehe.gif Idk why........ maybe because I can't see the people I'm talking to, so it's just scary (?)
