I wouldn't use linux, you sound like you have no idea what you're doing, just stick to windows.

You hit the nail on the head. no point in switching.
If you have a test computer you could try it out on that for fun.

Linux is the bitch's tits. It'll suck your dick and jack you off at the same time. You can use it to hack the planet and make stir fry.

buh fo real... if you're going to san francisco, be sure to wear some flowers in your hair.

Our apartment's "community server" runs FreeBSD _smile.gif

So does our firewall.

You have yet to explain why it is better. I would really like to know. I definitely thought it was better, but the overall message from this forum is that it sucks... and has tons of bugs and it takes constant use of the cmd prompt... which I don't know how to use.

You dont need it! People like linux because its even though its more difficult to use they get used to it and they are willing to, for the security it has. Almost all the problems that windows has it doesnt have! But for someone like you there is no point in using it. Thats what we are saying. It depends on what you do, your experience and if your willing to jump through some hoops for a safer more stable os.

^So you can't tell anything other than I don't need it and that it's better than windows? Do you even know anything about it?

I just told you reasons why its better.
And yes I do. There arent so many reasons that make it better. And I never really even said it was better than windows. I personally like xp the best. Prob just because windows is the most popular so all programs and other things are made for it. So its most convenient.

If linux is so good and windows so bad, how come so many linux people use WINE, the WINdows Emulator?

I tried using adobe flash using wine and it didnt work.
But most people would rather just use windows than use linux and go to the trouble of using programs through wine.

Most people that use WINE only use it for Windows-only games.

WINE mimics the Windows API (application programming interface).

mhm... stick to windows, linux sucks!

you might like it if you know scripting(bash, csh, ksh...) and loves installing things using the command line interface. it's this window where you type something and the computer interprets/compiles it.

i think it's mainly used as a server. unlike windows, linux can be installed without a gui(graphical user interface). no gui means better performance.

i deleted mine long ago and messed up my windows. linux's bootloader is going to take over the mbr(master boot record; executed when the pc boots up) so if you're going to install, i suggest you get another hard drive.

lol noob.
