In fact, the Detroit emcee is a better lyricist and has a better potential for mainstream appeal than most of our (hiphop heads) underground favorites.

His drop 'Tronic' might very well be one of the best albums dropped this entire year, but my prediction is that no one will care, or care to notice, for another two years when he's established himself with a broader audience.

Black Milk is, indeed, better than Lil' Wayne in every way imaginable. f*ck soundscan numbers or the appeal to White America; Black Milk is a far better artist than you probably know.

That's just it, Black Milk's been in the game for a hot minute. He's a producer first (see: Slum Village, Royce Da 5'9) and his previously produced tracks are on track with our man J Dilla. He's rapped before, but Tronic is his attempt at production without soul samples. I hear a lot of Cybertron and Kraftwerk influences in his new shit, but it's very much hiphop. He's a poet with an ill delivery and impeccable rhythm.

I really, really hate Lil Wayne. "A Milli" is so unbearably annoying...I don't get it. This is much better.

I actually like the minimalism of 'A Milli.' It has no structure, and it's a looped sample. The beat alone doesn't require much effort to make it a hot track. As a matter of fact, most of Lil' Wayne's songs are so well produced, that Lil' Wayne can continue to be a sub-par rapper and a poor excuse for a lyricist, and continue to do well.

Hell, Asher Roth's version was better than Lil Wayne's, hahaha.

Yes, but the looped sample is unbearably annoying, and the rapping isn't really good enough to make up for it imo.

it's ok, i'm with you nicki. i hate that song. the beat is unbearable for me to listen to. it makes me wanna have a nervous break down or something. while i have heard others over it do way way better than lil wayne, regardless of who it is i can't bring myself to like that beat.
