How often do you do it?

I'm trying to go through ~30 days worth of music and its really hard for me. My friends gave me their external harddrives and I'm trying to sort through what I like and don't like, which sounds like it should be easy but it really isn't. There's a lot of stuff that I don't hate, but don't love, but think I could come to love, and I don't know what to do with those :(

I need to. There's a shitton of stuff that I don't listen to. But if I ever change my mind, I have everything backed up on external harddrive. Yay, Time Machine!

I try to clean out my music every time I listen to my library. If I notice that I skip a particular song a lot, I'll delete it. Sometimes I will spend the whole day deleting and organizing my songs. It's relaxing.

I always have to clean up my iPod since it constantly fills up, I usually just delete what I don't listen to that much anymore (trying hard to be honest with myself), even though I'd prefer to have everything on my iPod incase I get the sudden urge to listen to something. But not enough space. :(

If I haven't intently listened to a song for a few months, it usually goes out.

yeah it gets really hard to delete stuff when you really start thinking about it too much. that's why i have to try to do it when im a not caring mood otherwise ill be all reminiscent and shit about songs that i rarely ever listen to.

i used to be obsessed with keeping everything but i'm tryin to cut my library down to only stuff i really really really like.

I get these feelings all the time whenever I want to add new songs to my iPod, then find out that I need to delete old ones to make room. It's especially hard for me to decide which songs to clear out since I have a 1GB iPod Nano (yes, I have been meaning to get a more spacious MP3 player for a while now). There are a few hundred songs in my iTunes that I've kept either because of the "maybe I'll come to love this" and/or "what if I want to listen to this one day?" thoughts--I really can't bear to delete them.

well if theres a song I just dont like to listen to, and it comes on shuffle, I'll delete it. I don't really need to though, I have plenty of memory left on my zune.

this is why i rarely download albums unless i can't find the song anywhere. i preview albums off imeem or other sites. i try not to add music to my ipod unless i've already went through every song. i don't keep whole albums because i know i won't like every single song. i'm one of those annoying shufflers who can't stick to finishing a single song, even when i make playlists.

I only keep the songs that I listen to a lot on my iPod. My iPod is practically empty (even with 2,206 songs). I download all my music to my external hard drive, so I don't really go through it, but I don't download music unless it's something I want.

I finally deleted a bunch of Christmas music because I've had it for like four years and I just realized I never listen to it. It just got annoying because there were a bunch of random songs spread throughout my itunes library and I never listen to individual songs - usually I listen to full albums.

Other than that I usually don't delete anything.

When I fill up my ipod I uncheck some shit. I really don't have much any more that I flat out don't want.

Hahahaha, 8gb of space. I have more than enough to fill up my 80gb ipod.

I don't delete anything. I create "rarely listen to" or "specific mood list" playlists and dump stuff there. That way if a song pops in my head and feel like listening to it, I can add it to a different playlist and synch really quickly. I find Genius to be pretty helpful (if I'm figuring out something I'm in the mood for. There's been a surprising amount of occasions that I see something to related to a song I have highlighted that I already own and forgot about).

I don't get albums and I just download the song that I like, so most of my music is stuff I would listen to. I add album art/lyrics/album title/song title/artist (I AM AN IPOD ORGANIZER FREAK) as I add new songs so everything's pretty organized.

You're not the only one. I hate files with incomplete information.

Omg I know! It irks me when I look through IPods that are unorganized (ex: weird file names, 'unknown artist', etc)! My friends think I'm crazy... but at least now I know I'm not the only one :)
