Make this thread helpful for the mods.

Mods are members, also. So member bashing is not allowed, as always. Don't make it a personal vendetta, please. Keep the bashing at 0%, please.

Any moderator has the right to close and unpin this thread at the signs of bashing, pointlessness, and/or any other guideline breaker.

I do hope this works out. I want to stress that this is not the place for personal attacks. If you really have to, keep it in the PM system between you and the mod. This thread is here to help mods work better with members.

Please do not make this thread into a full scale discussion. Its main purpose is for members to evaluate moderator performance. If your question/concern has been answer, cease to post here until you have another concern. Thank you.

So...your thoughts?

eh, i don't think you saying bitch alone is member bashing. you always say bitch, it's your thing.
edit:
i didn't see this, but yeah, it's ok. i just thought that if yan lin thought she was warned becuase i said that mods were too lenient that was unfair/not really true. cause i was on a whole other subject regarding something completely different pretty much when i was talking about leniency and debate forum backstage.

well now that it's been clarified, i have no more beefcakes with you. keke.

Tung - I hope you did not feel rushed to choose a random reason that I gave you, in response to you just closing the topic and typing "TOPIC CLOsed". I thought that you should at least put a reason, but a reason that really warranted the topic closure.

Oh yea and I thought when it comes to member bashing, it was more defined. I call people bitches all the time so I honestly think that YanYan was put on the spot. Usually when someone is actually REALLY OFFENDED by a post, then the member himself/herself (i.e. Tomates) should PM the poster (Yanlin) that s/he feels offended. IF THE PROBLEM PERSISTS and the poster makes it worse to the point that the member cannot do anything about it, that is when we seek intervention. Honestly, what happened to communication? I think that is where the inconsistency lies.

One may "feel" that a warning is warranted, but you can't just up and warn them without looking at the big picture. In addition, okay I found it as pure comedy, but since I didn't actually contribute to much bashing (or practically none) - just having fun and being blunt on my part - I did not get warned. That make sense. I think Yanlin and I are in the same boat. If anything, I think her comments are along the same degrees as I am (dunno if this makes sense but it does in my head).

ummmm agreed though. i'd agree that communication contributes a lot to inconsistency around here, just on everyone part. staff to staff, staff to members, members to staff, members to members, all around.

yeah but at the same time i highly doubt you would have been warned if you had just said "shanaynay is stupid" in a topic. i thought your warning was more for the fact you went and made a whole topic about shaynaynayayaywatever being stupid.

i duno, it just comes off as more bashing to people i think. becuase what is supposed to be talked about in the topic? nothing positive, just putting someone else down. i mean the entire topic is dedicated to talking bad about one specific person, and that's different than one post. it's intent is to promote more shit to be said about that person. it...takes it up to a higher level, or something. makes it a bigger deal. i don't know how to word it really.

i don't think there's a huge difference, but i think there is a difference between giving your opinion in a thread and creating a whole topic for the purpose of talking shit about one member who didn't do much to anyone shrug.gif

i duno what shanyayaanayanaayan kid or any of that little group did to anyone that was really that bad. they had a convo between themselves in another topic, that's about the extent of it.

Yanlin, Im not offended with what you said, so i apologize if it caused any trouble. Though i feel like your getting upset woth me for no reason, the "how did you even get motm" post and then i replied through a pm and then you responded by saying "lols because i didnt even vote for you" kinda confused me i gues so to say.
Did i do something to upset you? I mean was the comment honestly necissary? I mean i just want to know if i have done anything to upset you around here, so can i have an explanation? please?

Well you didn't report Yanlin, right? That's where it doesn't make sense because then Yanlin shouldn't have been warned if you didn't report her...

Naw, I'm saying that it seems Yanlin got warned because she called Tomates (or Ms Uchiha) a bitch. But if it didn't offend her, then what was the point of the warning? I mean often times people get warned because they are reported. Otherwise why would Tung warn her? Que.

Yeah I always randomly dislike people that have done nothing to me. It's irrational, yeah, but you can't help it. You have that sort of overly sweet demeanor that can get on people's nerves. You're like the polar opposite of Yanlin, forum posting-wise, so it's not really surprising.

Sigh. Before I got on staff, I made a thread or stated what exactly constitutes as member bashing so trust me on that I know where you guys are coming from. But Just because Tomates didn't get offended by what Yanlin said, that doesn't make it not bashing anymore. I could go around calling everyone faggots, and some people may not be offended, while others may be. The point is, it's still bashing bottom line. I know the word bitch is Yanlin's thing, but in the context and the timing of it in that thread, to me it was bashing. Being warned 10% is basically now equates to a verbal warning if you think about it. You only lose your member title at 20%.

i don't know, it's a fine line i feel like. i mean even if tung did something, it's still his job to mod. like if you got on staff right now, it would still be your job to warn people for bashing, even though you've done a ton of it yourself. not i think you'd ever warn someone for bashing if you were on staff stubborn.gif but i'm just sayin.

i don't know if it makes sense to say that a mod can never warn a member for something they themselves have done before.

it's inconsistent in a sense maybe...but then there's a practical sense that factors in too i think.

^it still seems like it comes back around to this though. i'm not talking about a specific instance right now, but just in general, what do you want tung to do? just never mod anything?

most people on staff are probably guilty of doing something at one point or another.

it's not really mine either. i'm just curious about what people around here wanna see.

just when people get on tung for supposedly being a hypocrite, i just wonder what else they would want him to realistically do. it's not like he can take back his past or anything, same as if any of you guys got put on staff. by your standards you wouldn't be able to mod anything either. (general you, as in everyone sayin tung is a hypocrite, not specifically you spencer)

it's not anything to do with his past, it's that he's doing the same things while on staff that he did in the past, but then reprimanding others for doing it. yeah, yeah, he said he's being warned for it, but how far do you have to go until it actually matters? he is on staff afterall.
