^ I find that cameras don't ever do justice to what makeup looks like. You have to a heavy hand just to get the colours to show up even a little bit. I had to try out a lot of different settings and types of lighting to get anything to show.

To be honest I never wear that much eye makeup on a daily basis, only for a special event. In the pictures it looks pretty natural but in real person it's actually a LOT. Normally I'd just wear some powder, very natural eyeshadow, maybe eyeliner, mascara and blush. If I took a picture of myself on a regular day, you probably wouldn't be able to see any of it.

I think I have finally mastered the smokey eye, but I have nowhere to wear it to! I will rock it one day at a party or something. Stila has some cool "Talking" palettes (there's one for smokey eyes) that gives you step by step instructions, although I find them pretty useless. Youtube tutorials ftw. ;)

Mel that palette looks great. I want to try out the Urban Decay palettes too, they always come with a lot of great colours.

Carrie, I love the lips as well!!

^ Teach me the smokey eye! I want smokey eyes!!! Flora always makes her eyes somewhat smokey, but her way of doing it doesn't really end up being smokey for me. She uses a shimmery brown eyeshadow as a base on her eyelids, and then a darker brown eyeshadow to make a thickish line above the eyelash and a thinner line on her bottom lid. And then she uses a black eyeliner and draws a thin line over the dark brown.

How does Flora do it?

I'll totally teach you how I'll do it. I'll even try it on you! :D But remember, the last time I asked, you didn't want me to touch your eyes. :(

I was so confused at first, then I looked at your PREVIOUS post. Alright. You know what we need to do? Another makeover day. A real one. HAHAHA

That sounds a lot like how I do it in terms of colour placement anyway. I usually line my upper lashline with a pencil, smudge it out a looot. Then go over it with a dark shadow, blending it out. I use a midtone to dark shadow above that up to my crease, then a midtoned to light colour in the crease. Highlight browbone with a light colour.

What a shitty explanation.

When you said it doesn't turn out smokey for you...what did you mean by that?

Maybe it's because I don't make the lines thick enough, but it just ends up looking like I just used eyeliner and that's it. LOL.

Not the best pic but my eyes were closed in a drunken pic and here's what I did for my bday night. It's not as perfect as at the beginning of the night though obviously, lol.

MAC shadestick in shimmersand
MAC eyeshadow in cranberry
Victoria's Secret eyeshadow in smokey night

Then just brown powder on eyebrows, and black mascara and liquid liner.

OMG! I love the Urban Decay palettes. The bright colors always attract me.

This is the one I have. Unfortunately, I left it at home when I was packing for college sad.gif

but HOLY SHIT I saw this at the store and nearly drooled all over it. I'm determined to own it one day:

So many wearable colors! So pretty!

Other palettes/sets that I have (and are also, unfortunately, at home and not w/ me which is why my makeup has been only neutral colors as of late sad.gif )

i think this is the newer version: http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtm...20jewelry%20box

and my aunt bought me this:

Yeah you might have to bring the colour up further on the eye. If you're keeping it below the fold of your eye it will definitely just look like you blended your eyeliner out. XD What brushes (if any) do you use?

I WANT THE UD BOOK OF SHADOWS!!! But damn, if it's $45USD, that's $50+ Canadian. And I already spent a lot of money on my last Sephora haul. Maybe in a few months. sad.gif

Yeah Mel how do you like Too Faced products? I always sort of forget about them but I'm not sure why.

Eh, just a couple of random crappy brushes... nothing fancy. I use those... rounded sponge-like things (? are they brushes?), like the ones in this picture, too.

i've only ever used too faced eyeshadows and i like them a lot! i think the colors are a lot more practical and muted compared to urban decay, but i like the way urban decay goes on better. however, too faced is a tiny bit cheaper if you take into account the amount of makeup they offer per dollar charged (i.e. UD 2.8g eyeshadow is $18 whereas TF 2.8 g eyeshadow is $17, lol). not enough to make a difference, though.

if you're gonna get a set, i think too faced is better. you end up using more of the colors than in a urban decay set.

Playing with makeup is the funnest thing imaginable! For the past few days ever since I got my stuff in Sephora, I have been staring fondly at my new goodies. Like my new NARS blush. Holy crap. I didn't know a blush could be so enchanting.

I have a few of the L'Oreal HIP shadows and I used to use them when I was into bright colored eyes. But now that I've gone boring and like neutral eyes, I don't use them anymore. However, they are really pigmented and I know of a lot of MAC makeup artists who use those as cheap dupes

Sephora by OPI nail polish colors are soooo pretty btw. I have on Metro Chic but the I'm with Brad color is my fav.

Haven't used it that much yet, but it's <3 and stays on alllll night. I swear, I think I can sleep with it on and it'll never come off..
Oh yea, and the 24/7 liners too. I have Velvet Rope but I was thinking about getting the VIP set instead. Oh well.

I nearly bought this one a couple days ago...$30!

^ I really want the Velvet Rope one now. I have the VIP set and I love Lucky, the copper-y colour. Electric (blue) is pretty awesome too. I wish the purple one was more sparkly and lighter.

How's the Sephora palette?

Your typical generic black smokey eye. You can hardly tell in the first picture. stubborn.gif

Hm, didn't try it yet. But I have Sephora liners and duo eyeshadows and they're not bad at all. The duo's creme creases though, even with UD primer potion (which is GODLY). I just end up applying it over my regular eyeshadows.
And wow, you have looong eyelashes, not fair ): I barely have any..

Want to try Stila smudge pots next...been eying them for a couple years now
