QUOTE
Metrosexual is a neologism generally applied to heterosexual men with a strong concern for their appearance, or whose lifestyles display attributes stereotypically seen among gay men.

The term is closely related to dandy. Debate surrounds the term's use as a theoretical signifier of gender deconstruction and its associations with consumerism. The word was coined as a tongue-in-cheek play on "homosexual".

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metrosexual

Sorry for the wiki-def. lol

I don't really have much thought on it. Personally, I'm not going to be interested in a metrosexual type. I don't know many since my social circle consists of the frugal and frumpy (lol) but a couple of guys I know that I would catagorize as a metrosexual seem far too high maintenance to me.

That and well, it seems so superficial to me. I'm not saying that they are superficial, just that my initial reaction of them would make that assumption.

i dont really get what all goes along with being metrosexual and all that. but, when i think of metrosexual dudes, i just think of guys that haven't really grown up yet enough to have better things to preoccupy their mind than if their hair gel is perfect or not. shrug.gif

like i said though i don't really understand what classifies guys as that, that's just my initial opinion of basically anyone who is so concerned about their appearance they need a title for it.

Ha ha it's understandable. All of my friends class me as being metro sexual and sometimes overly metro, but hey I take it as a compliment.

Edit lol!

In my case, I would say that I am concerned with my appearance and what not, but not to the extent of gelling my hair every five seconds. I always stay on top of my grooming, fashion, the arts, etc. so I guess I just try to always put my best foot forward and try not to have an off day.

Ooh, now I know what it is.
Well, I have a lot of friends who are like that.

So, I don't really have a problem with it.

You know what irks me though...is when people like me get confused with homosexuals. Not that I have a problem with the gays, because I think they are cool, but I just think that assuming that is kind of silly.

Yeah, I used to go out with a guy I guess was "metrosexual".
He talked real nelly and what not, but he wasn't a drop gay.
And now that he's in Highschool, he gets called gay all the time.

I like metrosexual guys! They're well-dressed and put-together... it's nice. It's weird when they go overboard and spend hours on their hair, though. =P

My favourite boy cousin (yes, I rank my cousins) is a metrosexual. He adores shopping and has some pretty nice clothes. I call him my trendy cousin. biggrin.gif

i hate how some of my friends and my dad see a metrosexual and already judge him by being gay. i mean some metrosexuals aren't really gay, like i guess 98% are. but i met one guy who isn't, i don't think thats a reallllly great idea to just judge a metrosexual.

i'm fine with metrosexuals i think they help a lot of girls when they ask for a metrosexual advice (;

I don't have a problem with metrosexual guys, but if they have the attitude that they're superior because of the way they dress, that's when I dislike them. I personally see nothing wrong with caring a lot about your personal appearance. I mean, I care about the way I look, not that I'd spend too terribly long doing anything about it. Just being clean is fine by me.

Also Javonn, high five nazi'ing your own topic ^_^ Betcha wouldn't care about any other topic!

You need to read a book, or take a sexuality class. EVERYONE is a drop gay one way or another. Look up the term Kinsey scale or something. It may be the slightest little drop of gay, but it's still a drop. Anyways...

I love metrosexual guys. As you all may well know by now, I hate people who can't dress themselves, and guys are no different. I'd rather have a guy spend half an hour in front of the mirror than have guys run out the door without having showered for 2 days.

Javonn showers 6 times a day. O_O And they all last more than 30 minutes each. That's like 2-3 hours in the shower everyday. So much time wasted, and water mang.

I'm definitely on the same page as you are when it comes down to those two extremes.

Realistically, I'd prefer somebody who dresses well without spending half an hour in front of the mirror, though I really don't mind somebody who can just throw on a T-shirt and jeans and walk out looking great.
