I am pleased to announce that Michael (mipadi) has accepted a new position "Tech Support."

The role, for lack of a better word is still somewhat a work in progress. What I sort of invision is Michael helping out with the more the more tech side of the forums (and admin cp). I'm also hoping that once Jusun returns, he will have similar trust in Michael (since he has so much experience) as he had in Trish and perhaps the two can work together to get some of the background things that typical administrators cannot work on.

Also, because this is an area he is gifted (and educated) in, he could possibly see things that administrators might have overlooked.

It's all for making cB the best we can make it with the resources we have, and I believe that Michael is one that can really help out eventually.

What tech support isn't, is a typical moderator. He will not be responsible for closing/opening threads, warning members, that sort of thing.

As I said in a PM, Congrats Michael. I'm glad to see you back, even if you aren't a regular mod. I believe you are the better person for this type of position and I hope things go well, if you need any help feel free to ask.

Michael himself has even suggested something along these lines in the past, WAY back when... I think it's a good idea that's been a long time coming.

But excited about this!

congrats mipadi for joining the dark side.

damn, I guess this is gonna get hard.

Heh.

This is something I wanted done a long time ago, but when I brought up the idea, you f****ts just ignored it.

Guess what though. I'm not a bug in the software. You're not going to fix the problem by having mipadi write scripts to delete my spam. You're treating the symptoms but not finding the cure.

You're not going to be able to ignore this. Take responsibility for your mistakes instead of hiding.

See you later, going to make another account.

The tech support idea that was shot down before was for Josh to be somehow added to staff. This is nothing personal against him, but honestly if we're going to give someone admin rights I would much prefer that it was someone we could trust and not someone who had the history he did with randomly insulting people.

Also, the reason it was brought up was so he could answer CB tracker questions, which I pointed out that I and others were perfectly capable of doing. Then was the debate over who was more qualified (Josh or me), how my qualifications were more hardware-oriented which is crazy (and not true), and all of this was pointless because all I was trying to say was that the position wasn't necessary.

But those are technicalities, the main thing that makes this different is that Michael has a great history with CB, has consistently been responsible, and has always been extremely helpful despite not always having a lot of time around here. In my opinion he's perfect for the position.

lol You know, pretty soon everyone will have an "admin" type status because it's like some kind of impossibility to get demoted from administrator these days.
