What kind of things irritate you that people use in their designs? Here are some of mine:

1. Borders thicker than 1px
2. Right-aligned layouts
3. That font with the wings that I can't remember the name of
4. Those "celebutantes" and Disney folk

My list would probably go all the way to one hundred, but I thought I'd spare you.

People who go brush-happy. Brushes are great and all, but please don't rely on them for good design.

Complete disregard for composition of any type. Sort of correlated with being brush-happy. A lot of people try to emulate certain styles of design and end up making shit that looks slapped together; people just don't think about what they're designing for. I mean, I know art is supposed to tread new ground and break boundaries, but in something like web design, there are definitely some guidelines to follow.

Ugly fonts. Ghetto things. Sparkly gif's.

Over-use of flash, i.e., sites that take like 5 minutes to load. Sure, it's pretty, but completely useless. Again back to not thinking about the design.

Shitty minimalism. We've talked about this before - minimalism, simplicity - it works when it's done well. A lot of people just throw shit together and call it a day.

I could probably go on as well...but my brain hurts.

- The use of the word Punk, when it's obviously an Emo layout.
- The design is TOO simple.
- Basic link navigation.(<a href="">That's it.</a>)
- Anything with the word Love, or some quote like that.
- Hard to read fonts.

When people use a ton of cliche brushes with clashing colors and call it a design.
Layouts with a plain white background.
Blurry images.
Badly cropped images.

Messed up colors. You know when all the color is wrong.
Over crowded layouts or empty looking layouts.

-Really sparkly graphics.
-Icons that have just been cropped and sharpened...that's not even a design!
-Too many fonts in one graphic.

- images of Robert Pattinson
- Fonts that clash
- Stupid quotes that are supposed to be "deep" but just look tacky.
- Overusage of brushes
- shitty faux "Minimalism"
- blends and collages that reuse the main image over and over again


etc. etc.

I don't like anything in center alignment.

oh i hate those. especially when it has to do with heartbreak.

Wow, my thoughts in a nutshell.

- animated sparkles
- Ugly colors that clash
- When they use 15 different fonts
- Blurry image
- Over used
- plane content areas with an over done header
- When the credit is huge and ugly
- Unedited images with nothing but text over it
- every thing else named on here so far, and about a million more.

I also hate when people put "DON'T TAKE OF CREDIT!!!" on really ugly and sucky layouts, I don't know why. Maybe I am just mean like that.

-Having designs just look like it took 10 seconds to make.
-Looking like there is too much thrown together
-Miley Cyrus/Jonas brother layouts
-things not matching

Things not matching is my biggest pet peeve. I don't know what's worse, if it is just off by like a shade, or if it blatantly doesn't match. Like the styles are wrong or something. Ugh.

Since everyone above me said basically what I don't like, I'll just add a few more:

- stroking every single text on graphics
- no focus (3 unblended celeb photos of the SAME SIZE)
- sTiCkY cApS with loads of unnecessary symbols in the graphic text or navigation
- 'girlish' use of swirls/sparkles :x

when the layout image background doesn't match with the actual page background.

another thing that bugs me is when people have their about me on their DIV picture itself.
I have seen a few like that today

It just makes it look like that you think you know hwo to make a DIV when in potential relaity you dont

I hate that, too. It just looks so horrible...Seriously, how hard is it to put a repeating PNG square in the back if that's what you insist on saving the image as?

^I don't know, I don't think it's that bad if people do that with their own personal divs. It's pretty stupid because they'd have to change the image if they need to change what it says, but it doesn't really make it look horrible.

to me though it just doesnt look that neat. Especially most times people have the font on a low quality and it obviously looks like its been plastered on.

I hate it when they put effects on it, like 15 differnt colors and fonts and what not, but if it is there personal I agree I don't think it looks to bad sometimes. =/

- Colors that blind me (ie. Lime Green and Pink in the same graphic)
- Things that contain millions of textures pasted over one image, all of which are set on 'overlay' 'softlight' or 'multiply'.
- Some random picture of the moon with some random word in the lower left hand corner.
- When people saturate images too much.
- I personally find the ipod commercial images to be REALLY tacky and annoying
- Anything Jonas Brothers.
- Pixely images in icons. It looks TERRIBLE

When tables/divs/etc. block the view of the background image.
Penises. I know an idiot who used a dick as a background in a myspace layout.
