it's currently new york fashion week for spring 09, and the next few weeks will be filled with fashion weeks across the continents. discuss.

Talk clothes, talk models, talk designer's own fashion.

Will give my opinions later, but random thought: What the f**k is Gap doing on Style.com's Spring 2009 RTW Shows list?!

You know, I lived in New York through 7 fashion weeks (I was in London during the Spring 2007 collections) and never once got to sneak my way into the tents.

LOL I would probably just linger around the tents because I would be too much of a pussy to sneak in. I would just try to breathe in the fabulousness.

Well, they are the epitome of ready to wear, aren't they? =\ That is strange though. It probably has something to do with their upcoming anniversary (40 years in 2009).

Edit: Currently looking through the pictures from the Gap show, and Jesus God is their collection lame. Only one look IMO was runway worthy:

http://www.style.com/slideshows/fashionshows/S2009RTW/GAP/RUNWAY/00110m.jpg

And Sessilee Lopez walked in it! Oh girl, you can do better than that. And they styled her all ugly:

The black girl.

Edit: Damn Style website changed the images -_- Can't find the original first outfit.

I don't really care for the GAP's clothing all too much.

I wonder how Calvin'll do.

Marc Jacobs... o_o Victoria Beckham's collection was boring- it was all mainly pencil skirt type dresses.

I liked how Diane von Furstenberg continued with the boho trend, and BCBG Max Azria's color palette was nice. DKNY was a bit too sporty for me this season. Preen's shapes were great.

Nothing too impressive so far though.

I fairly liked Marc by Marc Jacobs... It always appeals to me.

Monique Lhuillier's dresses were gorgeous.

Philosophy (di Alberta Ferretti) was amazing too! I've been really into dresses lately, and these had a nice casualness.

Rodarte's collection was really similar to their last one... The same tutu/tie-dyed/shredded things, though they're a lot more crisp now.

On the topic of models, so far I haven't seen too many of my favorites- Caroline Trentini, Coco Rocha, Ali Michael (the whole 'fat' scandal)... Jessica Stam was in several that I looked at though. And I really like Siri Tollerod.

A few of my friends volunteered at Fashion Week.

I was about to go to the Rock the Vote event, but didn't :( My roommate went and saw Miss Jay from AnTM

I haven't finished looking through Marc Jacobs' collection, but I agree with you. At least his pieces are really interesting.

Not surprised about your opinion of Rodarte's collection. They seemed like one-trick ponies from the start, especially since they're not formally trained.

Have you guys checked out Thakoon Panichgul's collection? He was hyped by the Washington Post's fashion writer, so I figured I'd check him out. I was disapointed in the first 13 looks, but he really hit his stride at the 14th look, this green dress modeled by Jourdan Dunn. The dresses towards the end are absolutely gorgeous.

^ Yeah. If only half of your collection is awesome then there's something wrong.

I'm completely in love with the shoes used in Marc by Marc Jacobs. Speaking of Marc Jacobs, I like both of his collections. The look for his signature line's collection is really dark and the gothic (and I mean that in its literary sense) drama queen in me loves that. But I love the lightness of Marc.

And omg, Jourdan Dunn and Hollis Wakeema are becoming my favorite models.

idk. marc jacobs for me, has kinda been like miuccia prada. both are on crack. miuccia's f**ked up both prada and miumiu, and marc jacobs has been f**king up louis vuitton. i think a lot of his stuff is really hit or miss. but lately, mainly miss.

I'm with you on that. I'm not ready to embrace the male skirt unless it comes with bagpipes or drums and very little irony.

Edit: Proenza Schouler was a big letdown. Plain and simple.
