Closing Ceremonies are typically never as extravagant or as interesting as Opening Ceremonies.

Hot damn, look at those fireworks! Shit. They really outdid themselves. I wonder if they have any more gunpowder in Beijing. Which is why the whole faking fireworks criticism is such a load of crap - if Beijing could have done it for you live, they would. They are the f**king masters of fireworks.

Memory tower was so cool, love how they made the Beijing logo WITH THEIR BODIES, holy crap.

The British presentation was pretty clever.
I thought it reflected what urban London is supposed to be about.

It was definitely cool, but felt completely different from the Beijing Olympics. It's going to be a lot different in 4 years. I'll have to take the London Olympic ceremonies as a big party rather than an artistic show of culture and symbolism, because it'll just look so shallow in comparison.

My mom told me randomly a few days ago that, "for the closing ceremony, they're going to have David Beckham on a double-decker bus kicking a ball." And I thought she was joking, but she wasn't, apparently it was leaked a few days ago. Come on, that's like having Celine Dion atop an igloo, and on the ground are a bunch of beavers and loons rollicking around in the snow.

I saw Shawn Johnson like after she got her gold medal on the balance beam and she had her hair down and had make up on and everything, she defiantly looks different and better.

haha, i was surprised to see Jackie Chan. And I also couldn't understand what they were saying. Through all of it, it was nice to watch though.

And I agree the London Mayer seemed like a complete idiot that didn't know what the f**k he was doing. And him kind of waving and saluting to everyone was weird.

^ It's a bunch of stereotypes.

David Beckham ==> Celine Dion
double-decker bus ==> igloo
kicking a ball (soccer) ==> a bunch of beavers and loons in the snow

I couldn't come up with one for America because there's way too much to think about. Stereotypes come easier to me for Canadians.

And what I said about igloos wasn't far from what Vancouver actually did in Turin. huh.gif

Ok who else is now excited that in 2012 the Olympics are going to be in London I know I am! is any one else thinking of going then. Oh I just thought of a great idea maybe we could have a Cb gathering then. why? you may ask well why not? allot of people are going to go to get together any ways and it would be like the expression "kill two birds with one stone" experience the Olympics and meet each other in person.

Yeah, I totally would not go to London for the Olympics. I'd catch them on TV though!

And no one has enough time or energy for cB meetups, let alone in London. huh.gif

why thank you!!! My logic behind it was since it is four years away we would have more time to plan it thats all. Also for those of us who have to save up thats a good amount of time to save money for such a journey. If you live far away from London that is.

^ LOL, why Liz Tay?

I don't know... I'm with Gigi. I mean, I understand what you mean about having 4 years to plan the gathering, but I don't want to travel THAT far to meet a bunch of people I met online. And I'll probably still be in school in 4 years... xD

Nah, it's not a bad idea, just not realistic. Frankly, I would never save money to go to London to meet people from the internet. Maybe California, but not Europe.
