sooooooooo my mom told me that I spent $568 this year on back to all of my school shopping (jeans, tops, socks, underwear, backpack, etc) . YES i realize that's half of $1000 & i just got slapped by reality that i need to seriously cut back on my shopping =T

is anyone else on cB a shopaholic? if not, how do you guys NOT spend?

for lent i gave up shopping & that worked, but only because i barely went to the mall...

i'm gonna start to not bring my card anymore...

hopefully that works.

edit: by card i mean debit card.. but thats still the same thing in terms of SPENDING lol. i just don't bring it with me anymore... alllll cash now.

LOL. that's not even that much. I spend about $200 a week on clothes and shoes on average. I would say I spend about 7-8,000 dollars on clothing/shoes alone a year

I'm not a ShopHolic shifty.gif ... Ask yourself: “Is this a want or a need?” Try to discover what is motivating the purchase.

Avoid temptation. The best way for me to avoid spending money on comic books is to not enter the comic book shop. If your weakness is music, stay out of the record store (or de-activate your iTunes account). If you tend to spend money at big department stores, then stay out of them. Avoid the places where you’d normally spend.

Ask for help. Beating an addiction can be tough when you’re going it alone. Seek support from your friends and family.

Tungster: ...wow. where in the world do you get all that money from?!

Kreios: good point, i should tell my mom that. she's been nagging me about it all week!!

Coralblue: thanks for the advice, but i still feel really bad because one thing i didn't get a lot of was jackets, which is something i need. but then again, its not gonna be cold here in CA until like October lol.

I don't even know how much I spend. Sometimes, I can go a few months without buying anything. But if I go out with my friends a lot I usually end up buy something...

Um.. yeah I made about $7000 this summer at my job and I've spent nearly all of it. Definitely NOT proud of it and realizing that I do have a problem. But yeah... just so you know you are not doing that bad.

i'm a shopaholic. Every thing i buy, i only wear it once or twice, unless it's a really cool item, which i wear over and over. In the summer, i went shopping almost everyweek. I spent faster than i make.

^ lol same here.
I'm really mad at myself for buying some things that I *though* were cute and when I brought it home it's like, the ugliest thing I've ever seen. I'm blind when I shop.
Just bring a certain amount of money when you go shopping, (if you don't already) instead of bringing your credit card or like, all the money you have.

avoid credit cards. Thats the best thing you can do since usually people think "oh theres a lot of money on this no worries!"

Bring cash with you. Sure its more of a burden but then you can set your own limits on things if you only bring a certain amount of cash.

Also if you pick out clothes or stuff think to yourself "its cute but would i wear it a lot?"

I agree with Michelle and Tungs statements. To go a little further, I will say that it is a lifestyle. You have a lifestyle to maintain, and it costs money to do it. I eat out 7 nights a week...TRUTH.
