Aight this is an old topic I made last year, but I'm recyclin' it 'cause a lot of the responses were pretty interesting.

So right now I'm just hanging around the house with my little brother. I started feeling kind of hungry so I head over to the pantry. Then I just notice some Kraft Easy Mac just sitting there and I got a sense of nostalgia.

I remembered back in the day during the early elementary years I had this one close friend whose house I always went to. Part of the reason I kept going to his house was because his mother always made Kraft Mac & Cheese which I just thought was to die for at the time. Man, I just felt like calling that friend up to ask to go to his house but then I remembered I had to watch my little brother.

What objects give you a sense of nostalgia and what for?

Old music videos make me nostalgic. I was watching MTV Jams or Hits or whatever with my little cousin this past week and they were throwing out some oldies. Well, not too old, just like early to mid-90s. It made me think of when I was her age (she's 13). Those were the days.

The smell of suncreen. It reminds me of when I used to go to the beach every year as a kid. It's one of my favorite smells in the whole world. _smile.gif

Trident gum reminds me of my grandma. She always used to have trident gum in her purse and I would always get a piece from her.

Word. Even just scrolling through music and passing old songs on my iPod reminds me of a lot of stuff.

Whenever I go over to my aunt's house and she is making cookies. When I was younger, the family would get get together around Christmas time and decorate cookies.

Also, the Superbowl. It used to always be really close to my birthday, and it would always snow. So the family would, one way or another, be inside watching the Superbowl. So nowadays, it reminds me of my birthdays when I was a kid.

I remember that thread. happy.gif I have something to add.

Writing in general makes me nostalgic. In the form of objects, journals, books, and blogs make me reminisce on a regular basis. For example, simply leafing through my old posts on cB made me realize how much I've changed over the past year. I can't help wonder how the heck I'm going to perceive myself in another year or two. Words in general bring back a ton of memories.

Cliché, I guess.

[Edit] The most random thoughts come to me when I'm brushing my teeth, I swear.

I think that reaping the full benefits of writing includes displaying a certain amount of vulnerability and putting self-consciousness aside. Due to overthinking, my writing now is less emotional.

But yes, nostalgia. Writing's a one-way ticket.

I think music makes me most nostalgic.
If I hear a song I haven't heard in a while I can usually remember where I was the first time I heard it and the last time I heard it.

The kids I babysit make me nostalgic. I babysit 3 sisters who are the exact age difference that I am with my sisters. It's so cool to watch them interact because that's how my sisters and I were. It makes me miss my home, and my family something awful.

And, sometimes, I just zone out and scenes from my life play in my head. It's always something that really meant a lot to me, though. It usually makes me cry.

Cool. When I signed unto the forums again, you were one of the few people I recognized. It took me a while to match up new usernames and whatnot.

This is making me pretty nostalgic. I should participate more; I'm such a lurker. pinch.gif

It's good to be back.

some of the songs ive listened to.
They remind me of places where i have listened to and what things were up to when i listen to them.
Though if i remember the song and had a bad day listening to it, i usually dont listen to it now so i dont remember that day.

That sounds pretty stupid i know

old pictures trigger old inside jokes and sayings and those are what make me nostalgic. Especially when I FIND old pictures I've never seen before, that's like a major nostalgia trip.

Anytime I listen to Jane's Addiction, I miss California. It reminds me of hanging out at Venice Beach. Same goes for "Under the Bridge", by Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Old stupid artists I used to listen to when I was little and had no sense of music. Old letters and crafts from elementary school make me smile at my innocence when I was a little kid.
