I was walking around the mall today with my sister and some guys ran after us (literally cuz we were walking away real fast after their sketchy sounding calls of "hey ladies") and offered us jobs at abercrombie. Said no cause I'm leaving for school soon but damn, they were good looking.

Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else here? _smile.gif I thought it was interesting to say the least.. I always heard they did that but never actually saw it. Do you think it says anything about discrimination based on looks/dress style? (or maybe I'm really ugly, and they like diversity in their employees)? tongue.gif

People's responses are interesting because I myself am half asian (and I look pretty asian too). And one of the guys was black. So maybe they've let go of the whole white thing?
Does this change your impressions at all, knowing I'm not white?

PS, I don't think I've ever bought a single item of clothing from abercrombie in my life tongue.gif So this was a very surprising experience.
Although to tell the truth I do enjoy the half naked posters wink.gif

If you didn't already know, Abercrombie years ago had a lawsuit against them for being racist and discriminating against non-whites. They wanted all of their workers to be this tall white muscular white dude, blonde hair, etc. You get the picture. But yeah, they usually want "hot" people to work for them.

I relate completely. In my native country, enforcers are sent to track down physically-fit young men to fight in the government-sanctioned kumite deathmatch. I was chased down and chained like a dog so that wealthy aristocrats with monocles could wage bets on my performance. Thankfully, new regulation has raised the age limit to three and up.

I think I remember Melissa posting something similar to this happening a while ago. I'm not sure though; I certainly would not be offered a job there.

Hell naw. I've only been to an Abercrombie store once in my life, and the male model-esque white boy rolled his eyes at me, just because I fished around in my wallet for some change for FIVE SECONDS. Okay, so I realize I'm like the only Asian person you've seen all week, but no need to be such a dick.

I've never been in abercrombie by free will [only when I was forced too] but I dont get how they are a clothing company with half naked models on their windows. so yea, also given the fact that Im asian wouldnt have helped in that store. :]

I've never been in an Abercrombie, let alone, seen one so I haven't had that happen to me. All I know is that you have to be hella good looking to work there. shrug.gif I heard they keep the hottest on weekdays and the hot for weekends. *shakes head*

lol that's never happened to me..but i shop at abercrombie. .__. a majority of my clothes are bought from there/hollister..lol

Not to me personally, but my friend got scouted to work at the flagship London Abercrombie.

I love it in there. It's an amazing store. Like a club, but with clothes all over the walls. Which, by the way, is a concept that I feel ought to occur more often in life.

I haven't been chased down but I've been offered jobs to Abercrombie, Hollister, & American Eagle (I took the AE job) at the same mall...they are sooo judgemental; the manager at AF wouldn't hire one female because she didn't like how she looked; basically, if they think you're ugly, they won't hire you

I like the clothes from Abercrombie and Hollister.... but why does it have to be so FREAKING DARK in those stores???? Every time I go in one of them, I feel like my eyesight gets worse. = =''
