I completely agree. Katie Holmes can kiss my ass.

Boyfriend forced me to watch it with him. The only memorable part in the movie for me was "the pencil trick"

after that I fell asleep.
Im sorry but Jim Carrey was the best villian in a batman movie in my opinion.

PS: I am not a fan of batman, superman, spiderman, all those types of movies. Might explains alot

thumbsup.gif so true. holmes is a horrible actor compared to maggie. holmes fit the part physically, but maggie did a better job in the acting dept.

I used my AMC admission ticket so I didn't have to pay but I so would not mind paying for the tickets for that movie! It was brilliant! Heath was GREAT at portraying Joker. I loved how witty and clever he was. _smile.gif Am I the only one who thinks that Batman sounded like he was dying? But yeah, the whole transition from bad to good with the two face guy was too rushed for me but I guess its cause I was too busy watching the Joker. dribble.gif Oh yeah, I totally didn't expect the "pencil trick" thing. XD

Oh, Heath, we miss you! <3

And guys, I paid $14.95 CND for IMAX. Worth every freaking penny. And we drove a considerable distance. I don't regret a thing.

It wasn't about the acting talent, which Maggie Gyllenhaal clearly has more, but more about how they played the character.

15$ canadian? Isn't that like a buck fifty? XD.gif

^ The first time I saw it, my mom came with. She is kinda squirmish and I didn't know they were going to show him that much. She kept looking down and I had to tell her when it was over. And of course, you could tell when they were going to show him, so I'd have to be like "Don't look."

You just contradicted yourself. How can someone with more acting talent (and therefore, the greater ability to morph herself into the appropriate character), play the character worse? That just makes no sense. I think when it comes down to it, y'all just prefer Katie Holmes because she looks better.

And no, $15 CND is not a buck fifty [sic]. $14.95 CND is exactly $14.61 USD. So if you're trying to be clever and imply that the Canadian dollar is worth almost nothing, you probably forgot that we briefly reached parity with the US a few months ago, and that the US dollar was the one doing the suffering.

Acting is a very complex art form, and talent alone won't ensure that everyone will prefer your (or the director's) interpretation of a certain character. Although Maggie is clearly the more talented artist, Katie may have understood (i.e. interpreted) the character in a more interesting way. Illusion is, of course, the main tenant of nearly any art form, but... the trick is just as important as the deck you use to do it (and even the magician you put behind it).

Nonetheless, it isn't like her role had much opportunity for artistic out-reach; it was sort of cut-and-dry. Further, I think Katie Holmes is a boring ugly bitch. Maggie is regal and elegant.

Anyone else find the fight scenes stupidly and incoherently edited? MTV dick-directing has it again!

I didn't contradict myself. When you watch a movie, or at least when I do, I take the character established by the actor as being the character itself. When Holmes established the character she was far more the cold shouldered unfeeling ADA. When Maggie took the role she took it the direction of the lovey dovey damsel in distress. I was annoyed not only by the character but by the stark difference between the way the two actors took the character. Considering that both movies are part of the same timeline, series, story, whatever, one would think that the new actress would try her best to emulate the character previously established in the first movie.

And I was making fun of the Canadian dollar. Wasn't really supposed to be so much clever. Yes I know the CDN$ matched and even outweighed the US$ in recent years. But it's kind of a long standing joke.

Yes! I got the whole Gilmore Girls vibe with the dialog. It was just line after line after line with no pause, like they were reading right off the script. The only time it ever seemed natural is when Aaron Eckart or Gary Oldman was in the scene. The scene where Gordon is talking to Dent about getting the warrants to get into the banks was my favorite in terms of the natural feel of the conversation. It just felt more realistic than the back and forth tennis match feel of the rest of the dialog.

I finally saw it yesterday.
The story was pretty long. It took a while to get to the climax. And Christian Bale felt stiff sometimes.
Aaron Eckhart and Gary Oldman felt the most natural and comfortable in their roles.

And Heath Ledger, I feel, really captured the maniacal-ness of The Joker. His little mannerisms had a purpose for the character.

I'm glad I saw it.

I thought the movie was excellent. Heath Ledger created one of the best villains ever. I thought Christian Bale was a great Bruce Wayne, but I didn't like his Batman. That tacked on gruff voice he did as Batman wore a little thin. I understand doing that angry, raspy voice to drive a point home like he did in Batman Begins. I just feel he was doing it way too often and it became a little silly.

I couldn't help but laugh at Batman's voice after the conversations got lengthy.

I actually watched the movie (which I never intended) and thought it was ok. Not exactly as good as everyone hyped it up to be, but it was ok.

I did like Heath Ledger and the Joker though, probably my favorite character.

My favorite scene was when the Black guy threw the detonator out the window 'cause I thought the directors were doin' some racial profilin' again.
