The title alone should speak for itself.

From time to time, I'll turn on my digital cable box in the midst of my insomnia to find something erotic in nature, or just downright kinky on the major movie channels. Last night, at around 2am, I flip on HBO and found myself fixated on a documentary following the business and girls of the Bunny Ranch in Nevada. I had never even heard of a legal brothel so my jaw dropped. Along with the entertainment, I went along watching this hour long show attempting to morally justify someone's pastor concealing his identity and helping out their business. Being that this country is run by the moral majority, I still tried to way the pros of a possible decriminalisation on a wider scale.

Already there are brothels run legally all over Nevada; Las Vegas (of course), Reno, Carson City, Beatty, Hawthorne, Winnemucca, Battle Mountain, Elko and Wells. If its already legal there, don't you think its just a matter of time before its legal across the country? Imagine driving up the highway and seeing whorehouses instead of XXX Megaplexes.

So, I ask all of you. Do you think its wrong? Or do you think that in this free country a woman should be allowed to sell her body for cash.

I don't find anything wrong with it. If people want to sell their bodies they should be allowed to. The only problem with prostitution is sometimes women or men get abused by the person in charge of the company or either clients.

I think it should be legal for prostitution, but the government should monitor it to make sure men or women's rights aren't being violated, and that they are healthy and somewhat happy with what they do.

I still question why it's illegal in the first place.
I'm assuming it has to do with taxes.

It should be legal.
Prostitutes are prone to being attacked because their reluctance to tell the police about attcks. If it were legal a fewer amount of them would be beat up or killed. And, they could make it a part of the law that they get checked for STDs regularly as to help stop the spread.

Yeah, but the government would rather just ignore the girls being killed, rather than pay tax money to check up on the prostitutes. stubborn.gif

I'm saying people would be less likely to kill them.

They are easy targets because if they get away they more than likely won't go to the police, because they are prostitutes. But, if prostitution were legal they would have no reason not to go the the police, making them less of a target.

Ohh, I see, yeah that's true. With all of this religious nonsense things like that aren't going to happen any time soon though. Ohh, the irony.

Obama my ass, I got no problem with an African American becoming president, but NOT Obama. I'm even from Illinois and I don't like him. He's going to be the ruin of this nation. (after Bush, Woodrow Wilson, Clinton & well you get the picture)

I think that people are going to be involved in prostitution no matter if it is legal or not, but I am against legalizing it furthur because it just opens the doors to more and worse things being legalized.

oh.. and its disgusting.

Um, are you joking? A better way to stop the spread of STDs would be for people to use adequate birth control. Thats it. And if it is legal, and they are getting screened for STDs, like hell that my tax money is paying for it. Im not supporting prostitution.

Waoohh, Bill Clinton did some pretty great things while he was in office. He balanced the national debt, which no other president has done.

You probably haven't even looked at Obama's plans for the country. I think they're superb. They're similar to McCain's actually, but a bit more liberal and less war-supportive.

Birth control doesn't stop the spread of STDs, only condoms have a chance at doing that, and if that's what you were talking about, be more specific next time. Hello? Have you looked at what your tax money has been going to recently? This seems actually more worthy of a cause then half the other things taxes go to.

Condoms are a form of birth control. Yes, thats what I was talking about. And I know that my money is going to some pretty wacked out things right now but Im not going to add women who f**k guys for money and spread STDs around and then get screened for them onto the list. No way.

And to completely barge into another conversation, I am assuming that you read the New York Times, watch CNN news, and are mind fed the lies that the media gives to you about Obama. But if you delve in a little deeper and put past your admiration for him and really research him, you will find that he is actually quiet differnt and his plans for this country are not good at all. I support McCain all the way..

You still haven't given anything more than vague answers on the subject. Of what lies do you speak? I agree that the mainstream media is hardly a good source of information, but I wouldn't necessarily say they publish lies. Care to elaborate?

Furthermore, what about his plans are "not good at all"? And what makes McCain's plans better? (I'll be honest -- attacking Iran doesn't sound like a good plan to me. But maybe that's because I'm a military-age male...)

The News is distorted in the way they portray Obama. They dont reveal all of these accomplishments:

* He voted against banning partial birth abortion.
* He voted no on notifying parents of minors who get out-of-state abortions.
* Supports affirmative action in Colleges and Government.
* In 2001 he questioned harsh penalties for drug dealing.
* Says he will deal with street level drug dealing as minimum wage affair.
* Admitted marijuana and cocaine use in high school and in college.
* His religious convictions are very murky.
* He is willing to meet with Fidel Castro, Hugo Chavez, Kim Jung Il and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
* Has said that one of his first goals after being elected would be to have a conference with all Muslim nations.
* Opposed the Patriot Act.
* First bill he signed that was passed was campaign finance reform.
* Voted No on prohibiting law suits against gun manufacturers.
* Supports universal health-care.
* Voted yes on providing habeas corpus for Guantanamo detainees.
* Supports granting driver's licenses to illegal immigrants.
* Supports extending welfare to illegal immigrants.
* Voted yes on comprehensive immigration reform.
* Voted yes on allowing illegal aliens to participate in Social Security.
* Wants to make the minimum wage a 'living wage'.
* Voted with Democratic Party 96 percent of 251 votes.
* Opposed to any efforts to Privatize Social Security and instead supports increasing the amount of tax paid.
* He voted No on repealing the Alternative Minimum Tax
* He voted No on repealing the 'Death' Tax.
* He wants to raise the Capital Gains Tax.
* Has repeatedly said the surge in Iraq has not succeeded.
* He is ranked as the most liberal Senator in the Senate today and that takes some doing.

Okay, so your going to be happy about a 'few' of them and completely overlook that he voted against the patriot act, which is an act that has protected this country for years, he voted to make the minimum wage the 'living wage' which will give uneducated people more money that will come out of the taxpayers pockets, not to mention he voted to give ILLEGAL immigrants social security, drivers licenses and welfare.
