my little brother isn't usually one of those crazy annoying "I'm not touching youuu" little siblings, most of the time he's pretty mellow. Just sometimes, he goes crazy on me. I have a lot of patience with kids so he doesn't get on my nerves as much as he does to my sister, but today he's just been terrible. He always does this whenever i try to do stuff for him. He woke me up this morning at 6 asking me to play operation with him. I felt bad, so i got up and played it with him then i made him breakfast and we played video games after then went outside to play with chalk. So everything was going fine and we start to make stuff with clay. Its not like play-doh, its expensive art clay that you can bake and stuff. so anyways, we're playing with it and i'm helping him make a T-rex and I'm making a Pterodactyl and trees so that we can make a little scene thingy. So anyways, I'm done with all my stuff and he starts complaining about how his T-rex isn't as good as my Pterodactyl and I help him make it a little smoother and while i'm finished with that and i look up, he's mashing all my thingys. Of course i yell at him and he just laughs and i end up smacking him. Which makes him cry and run to my mom for sympathy. I then get yelled at cause I "overreacted" and I'm "grounded" which doesn't really mean anything cause the parents still let me do whatever.
Now i have a huge ball of crap brown swirl clay that i have no idea what to do with.
sad.gif
and now he's throwing stuff at me and giggling and mumbling "dianas stupid" and stuff like that just getting on my nerves. aslkjdflkajf

I just want to know, after everything i did for him today and after what he did, do you think I overreacted?

oh yea, he's eight so he should know better than to do that, right?!

My brother has been really evil lately too. You didn't overreact too much. Hitting him hard enough to get him to cry is a bit over the top, but I would kick my brother in the nuts if he woke me up at 6 AM to play Operation.

Also, The Cure is awesome :D

I spent like 30 bucks(that i earned through 3 babysitting jobs) on that clay.
Thats definitly something i'm not gonna laugh about. stubborn.gif

and i guess i probably shouldn't have hit him, but all i got was 3 hours of sleep last night so my patience isn't so great today. I am definately not a violent person at all.
and yea.
He's in tackle football and he doesn't act like that at all when he's playing.
Its just cause my mom was here and it wasn't in a public place.

This is hard to deal with because you're the OLDER sibling so anything they cry to the parentals about you're going to get in trouble regardless [which is completely unfair]

I don't think what you did was over reacting.

Agreed. Trust me. I experiance that almost everyday. Wheneber I tell my little brother not to do something that's going to get him into trouble my mum is always saying, "Don't tell him what not to do!" or "Don't yell at him!" (Even though I'm just using my normal tone.)

If anything, you didn't overreact. I mean, that's what it means to be siblings, you're going to have moments when you'll fight or disagree with one another. But unfortunately, either parents just don't understand or they just forgot what it's like to be constantly taking care of a younger sibling and you start losinhg patience.

Just keep in mind next time, that don't physically abuse him just kind of joke around and say, "Hey, that wasn't very nice!" Or something similiar to that. Try to say it in a nice way so he understands that he can't be playing like that. You can be a lil bit strict, but don't like scold him.

sometimes kids really do need a smack upside the head. if you can't hit him then just use the old eye for an eye method. he breaks your stuff do the same but worse... of course this won't help you and your brother get along very well

ahah, thats funny, &kinda sucks at the same time.
my advice is, make him feel bad. like, start to
cry, kinda, &say i played operation with you,
&made you breakfast, &blah blah blah. &then
say, &you messed up my dinosaur, lmfao. i think
that will make him feel guilty.
&i have an older brother, hhaah, &we like fight,
like literally. lmfao. its fun, and funny.
i give him bruises, &my parent get mad, just
cause i dont bruise as easily as he does. XD.gif
&although a smack feels good on your part,
you'll get nothing out of it, but that. haha

I think he just doesn't understand how much you did for him. Kids between ages 2 and 8 don't think logically like you and me, and they look at things individually... so to him the the Operation game and the clay are not connected at all. And so he messed up the clay - maybe he didn't understand it was the expensive kind. Plus, kids go through an egocentric stage! Maybe he's still going through his.

Overall, I do understand why you would be so upset with your brother. I mean, after all that trouble, he just screwed you over! I do, however, think you overreacted (wow, am I the first one?). Did you even try to talk to him about the clay?

Same.

My sister knows better than to wake me up at such a time.

Let your brother know who's boss.
U DA MAN.
