Hi! I'm CJ! Welcome to Cb!

Ps: Tell that bass player to raise his bass up a bit, hes going to look like a goof, but its better than playing like a goof. And turn his amp up, it may not be your favorite instrument, but its definitely one of the most important instruments.
And theres nothing wrong with slapping with the fingers, but you can go much faster if you use your thumb.

And what instrument do you play?

Hi I'm a bass player too.

Well, the bass player from Coheed and Cambria slaps very similar. Learn some Victor Wooten. That will help you with your slap style.

And Sid Vicious played pretty damn low too. Look how much he sucked.

I love "Classical Thump" by Victor Wooten
I learned the beginning of it (haven't tried the rest but I doubt I could do it all)
Flea from The Red Hot Chili Peppers has been my main influence. Higher Ground, Stone Cold Bush, Get Up and Dance, Mother's Milk, etc.

are you in a band?

Classical Thump is a hard song.
Higher Ground is probably one of the best songs for a beginner at slap. It's a bit of a challenge, but it's not so hard that only Flea could do it.

I'm barely in a band. I'm the only one thats serious about it.

Primus's Frizzle Fry and The Brown Album are good albums to practice songs from for slap and flamenco. For slap & pop, I would suggest learning some Level 42 bass solos.
