I mean shit, we could get by with 1 person here, Cristy. In terms of visible work and activity, she does more than anyone else and probably more than the entire staff combined (not including her, that wouldn't make sense). So let's see, the CC is in super dire need of mods huh. The VIP lounge is getting pretty crowded... Maybe having one other person to move things and close threads, Betty seems to do a good job of hindering my fun.

So why do we have so many people? What does everyone do?

I will never stop my backseat modding until you guys fire everyone and put me on as admin again so I can shut down cB for good! /SuzyQ

Please don't jump down my throat when I ask, what exactly is the harm in having the current staff stay as is? Sure things may be slow and sure some mod more than others, but I can't quite wrap my mind around the urgency in demoting people right now.

what's the harm vs. what's the point

in the end we all know that no one is gonna get demoted.

they would have to do something extremely extremely extremely awful, like arjuna ohmy.gif being a shitty mod isn't enough. i still wanna know whatever happened to all that probation period stuff.

AC was a mentor, and as far as activity's concerned, we are very lenient with mentors. HOWEVER, activity did become an issue and he was aware of it as well as the rest of us. If nothing had happened, the activity issue WOULD have come up or he would have stepped down on his own, as he had been planning on doing at some point soon anyway. People DO get demoted for inactivity, as has been seen (as much as I hate to bring it up) recently with Diana. As far as the probationary period, that is something that we are still "testing", so to speak, and we are actively discussing it at the moment.

You guys are big on not modding unless it's absolutely necessary. Hey, as an administrator I don't like demoting someone unless, guess what, I feel like it's absolutely necessary. So yes, that does mean they have to actually do something to deserve it - why on earth would I want to demote someone who DOESN'T deserve it? If they're trying and improving, then I see no reason to get rid of them. I'm sorry if that disappoints you, because I know you were all so looking forward to people getting kicked off staff. That's not to say that no one will ever get demoted for being a bad mod, ever, because it will happen if it's necessary. But just having a group of people who don't like a certain mod isn't enough to make us feel like they're doing a bad job. We all have to deal with, even work with, or work under, people we don't like - not just here.

+1

For the record, I left because there was so much garbage going on Backstage it would blind babies.

Oh, and the mod life got pretty boring after a while. Improving cB is nice and all, but you can only do so much without Jusun.

Then why on earth would you hire someone who DOESN'T deserve it in the first place? zipped.gif

Dani, I'd hate to give you a hard time 'cause you're awesome, but *sigh*.

Hmm, I guess I'm not sure who you feel doesn't deserve their position or didn't deserve it to begin with. Those who were appointed were approved unanimously by upper staff. We did make a mistake in communication (putting Natalia on people staff, I apologize - the intent was for her to be on Design Staff, and we fixed that as soon as we could afterwards), but aside from that I really feel like everyone who was promoted in the last hiring session really deserved it.

I have nothing against you either, AC. It's no big deal if we disagree on something, so I'm cool if you feel like you need to give me a "hard time" over this. It doesn't have to be personal, and I fully understand that.

Well, when you have several mods to do a job that it takes one person to, consistency becomes a big issue. Inconsistency leads others to wonder what will and won't be punished. What will get moved to the VIP Lounge and what will remain where I can actually, read it. What is considered spam and what is understood to not be spam (because it has a god damned purpose f****ts).

Nate's activity was minimal before he got hired and now it's close to... zilch.

Is one or two posts every few days really enough to justify being on staff? As soon as he got hired, he disappeared.

I understand your reasoning behind pointing that out, but I will say that it hasn't gone unnoticed by any means.

Hasn't gone unnoticed, but surely it's being ignored.
