Aww, congratulations. This reminds me of when I first adopted my dog, Tiger. (wierd, I know.) He licked me nose when all the other puppies bit me...and thats when I knew. throb.gif Good luck to your new kitten and allergies.

Hah, he's cute. I'm allgeric to cats, but we have them all over here, because I live on a farm. We've given away a lot of our kittens, and people always come back telling us how different their personalities are compared to the other cats they have. Our cats here tend to be more outgoing and creative than normal cats. Or so I've been told.

What are you naming him?

oh, you should have just bought something out of a pet store. I guess its nice that your adopting though.'

^I was actually going to get one of those, but I'm telling the lady later this week I'm not getting it, I rather buy art work with the money then get another dog.

NO! lol

I worked at a pet store, last thing you want to do is buy a dog or cat from a pet store.

I love it when people adopt animals from shelters. Spread the love. =)

Good luck with the new addition to your family!

Adopting is definately the way to go. Never ever buy from a pet store. If you just simply must buy a dog go to a reputable breeder. Because if your going to spend the big bucks to get your little yorkiepoo or whatever you should at least make sure it comes from good stock and won't have any genetic flaws. I love dogs, and would love to one day breed Westies and Scotties, but for the moment I have my pound puppy.

He looks adorable. I am usually allergic to cats, but I haven't ever had any issues with mine. I think it is either because he is strictly indoor or because he has a slightly different kind of hair than other cats I've known. (He's a Maine Coon X Siamese so his hair is kind of long). When you get him definately get him a bath as soon as you can. I know it sounds strange, but if you have allergies you're going to want to get all the shelter crap off of him. I usually wash mine with the spray hose on the kitchen sink. Just restrain him and put it up really close to his skin with low water pressure. And talk to him. I usually wash mine every couple of months. Of course I didn't start washing him until he was almost a year old, so you should have an easier time of it. Oh, and also see if you can get any kind of antibiotic from the shelter when you pick him up. I don't know about your shelter, but the one I got my dog from had things like kennel cough running rampant so they always gave you an antibiotic to give for the first couple of weeks to kill any colds they may have picked up. But good luck! If you have any questions feel free to ask.

shrug.gif My family use to breed dogs, so I mean every dog that I've had usually came from that. Or one of our family friends that breed a bunch of different dogs.

The only dog I've ever got from a pet store is my current dog. She had just got there that day and I came later that night and bought her. I don't eat meat, I think thats enough of a good dead then to have to worry about all the animals in shelters.

Oh it's not just a humanitarian thing, I saw a lot of malnourished animals (not just in the store I worked in, but in several others as well).

I don't push the whole "you must get animals from a shelter!" thing. It wouldn't be my place to do so. =)
