I was hoping to choose one of their themes to find something simple and clean, but they suck too much. It's impossible to find anything nice there. Seriously. They're disgusting.

I'm glad cB's on top of the game.

I don't like Xanga themes, either. Xanga DIVs are so much better.

By the way, does anyone still use Xanga? I don't know, but it feels like there's been a recent pick up on activity lately.

I was thinking about getting a Blogger as a photoblog, but maybe I can stick with Xanga and work my layout for a photoblog (I was gonna see if there'd be a preset theme/layout I could pick out, but the Xanga Themes are just too dang ugly!)

I do! I'm basically the only one out of my friends who still uses Xanga after three years, but recently two of them came back from the dead and started using it again. So many of them left for Facebook in 2006-'07, it was ridiculous. -_- But yeah, besides my friends' return, Xanga is a bit more popular again.

Blogger is good if you want simplicity, and the preset templates are decent.

What kind of Xanga layout/theme do you have in mind? I haven't coded in a long time (too lazy; grew out of it), but maybe I can do something... Don't hold me to it, though, I'm still lazy about Xanga coding. laugh.gif

I do! I still make Xanga layouts, too. :] Although they're kinda complicated.

You can tell how much activity there is for a certain blogging site by looking at the activity (number of comments/favorites) there are for the layouts for that blogging site on CB. XD

I like Facebook, but I wish they'd let you put your own layouts on it and stuff. :[

As for the Xanga themes, some of them are okay, but most are really crazy.gif. You can submit ("share"), but I don't exactly get the difference between look & feel and themes, and I'm too lazy to find out. XD

You mean completely customizable ones, or just basic stuff like changing the font and colors?

If they ever allow that option, you can bet HTML- and CSS-challenged people would make Facebook into the new MySpace, with fugly layouts and graphics that make you want to puke. -_- I'm firmly against Facebook layouts.

^Hmm, that's true. I never did like Myspace because of all the HTML/CSS/color-illiterate people and layouts I see on there. [Plus the whole pedophiles/sexual predators thing, but let's not get into that.]

It would be cool if they had an option to change colors and stuff, although I do like the default blue and white. :]

Facebook's default layout is nice and clean; it's more pleasing than MySpace's default. (Application clutter [another annoyance of mine] is a different issue entirely, and not Facebook's fault.)

I wouldn't mind changeable colors, either. But I know that "color-blind" people would probably choose clashing or unappealing colors to go together, making people not want to visit their Facebooks anymore. :X

In the end, it's best if Facebook stays with the same layout.

Yeah, only a few of my friends regularly blog on Xanga, and there are a few that don't update for a long time, but at least when they do update, their blogs are good.

I was thinking about Blogger 'cause of simplicity, I'm just wondering exactly how many people use it and what kind of audience I'd even be able to reach.

I was thinking of just a really simple and clean, yet elegant Xanga layout. There wouldn't be a whole lot cluttered since 900+px wide of the layout would be reserved for photography and other images. The colors wouldn't have been that complicated either. Probably just something neutral (gray maybe?) so that the photos are the focus, and the whites and blacks show up well too. Ha ha, no worries though if you're too busy. I may just invest on a website instead, I dunno.

Ha ha, I totally agree with Cristy about custom HTML/CCS on Facebook. HAIL to the NO. I just know FB would go down the drain if they did that. The uniform default works just great for them, in my opinion. (Though maybe they could get a darker nighttime setting too? Ha ha.)

Alright! Erm, do you think you could link me to the layout you're referring too? I've gotten kinda rusty at navigating through the cB gallery since I never got used to the cB4 set up.

A lot of people use Blogger because of its simplicity. It's also easier for people to comment, because a lot of the time only Xangans comment other Xangans' blogs, but with Blogger, people without Blogger/Google accounts still comment with OpenID, their name/URL, or anonymously. Xanga added the anonymous commenting feature a few months ago, but it definitely doesn't get as much use as Blogger's does.

Sounds simple enough. =P So a light/middle shade of gray, then? And how many columns do you want, just one on either the left or right to display information about yourself, your cameras, etc.? Or two columns (on both sides of the main photoblog)?

Oh yeah, I remember taking Blogger's easier commenting system a consideration. And I never knew Xanga got anonymous commenting too. I guess that just show how used it gets.

And yeah, simplicity is key. I wouldn't mind even a darker gray. I guess I'd just like to see how it'd look on the whole Xanga. I don't want no ugly gray though, ha ha, if you know what I mean. I'd probably go with one column on the left, still minding that the main photo space should be a little more than 900px wide. Also, Xanga's photoblog wouldn't be the focus, but just the regular webblog since I just post photos uploaded from elsewhere.

Ah, it's cool, but for the kind of design I'm thinking of it's too complicated towards the top, and not enough blog space. Of course I didn't expect the layout to fit my guidelines or anything, and it's a good layout. thumbsup.gif

I don't use xanga anymore, ever since they changed some things around there I just never bothered with it anymore. I got in to Livejournal, but only because one of the artists I collect has a fanLJ. I also have a blogger that I don't really use. So now I just decided to put wordpress on my website. I'll see how that goes, I believe wordpress is pretty active though, good if you just want your own journal/blog.

Okay, I have to pick a good gray. xD Actually, can you go here (http://www.draac.com/hexchart.html) and tell me which gray you'd like? Maybe 999999?

By photoblog, I meant the blog area where you'll post the photos. =)

I'll hopefully work on that this weekend. Today I have too much homework to do. XD

666666 should be just fine. That's the shade I used for my current Xanga layout. Actually now that I look at my Xanga again, I think I liked it with the black in the negative space/background. Or at least, I wouldn't want the whole page to be gray. After looking around, I think I'd like something like this: http://img368.imageshack.us/img368/920/xangathemess3.jpg
Just cooler 'cause I know cB > Xanga themes. =P

Oh ok, just clarifying. I know Xanga made some other weird photoblog thing. =P

Dang still busy with school huh, In that case, don't sweat it! No rush.

I hate xanga themes. They are so annoying. It makes it so less people use peoples xanga layout sites. Which is really lame.

&& I still use xanga because I'm so cool :) haha.
