Right.. heres my story.
Quite recently I got into Createblog again, and as my graphical talents have improved a little, have started uploading some of my better graphics. I noticed that the moderators seemed to be nicer than before, and commented on a lot of the things I submitted, which I was really happy about. I started gaining more confidence in my ability and over the past few weeks have made some of the best uncoded layouts ive made in a long time.
Anyway, I sign on today to see if I have anymore new comments, and I see I have 4 messages, which baffled me.

So I look, and I read that 3 of my icons which were accepted, have now been rejected, because of a font being unreadable, or the image being too soft or grainy. Looking at these icons, I can see if you look really closely, with your face a few inches away from the screen, then indeed it does look a little grainy. But if you look at it from a normal distance, it looks fine. And most people arent particually fussed anyway!
And WHAT THE HELL?! I was told this is really blurry and out of focus, and it isnt clear:

In my opinion it isnt really blurry, really out of focus (correct me if im wrong. It might just be that as im long sighted I cant see it as well as others..) However, I can see its a little grainy.. BUT SHE DIDNT SAY THAT!

NOW IM SORRY I cant buy the most perfect software. I can clearly see that not EVERYONES graphics are perfect on here.

And I also want to mention the people that moderate our graphics. Each time I submit something in a group, it is done by different person. Now I totally understand that CreateBlog is really popular and gets loads of submissions, but all the people who moderate these seem to have different qualities in mind? So i get told one thing by one mod, I do it for another icon so that its perfect, and then another mod tells me something else. Why not have just one moderator, that knows exactly what is right and wrong? Instead of loads of people. Lots of people means lots of opinions. One mod may like it, while another may not.. you see?
I also notice that my worst icons get accepted. What the hell is with that?
And ALSO (sorry about all the also's) one of the moderaters that accepted a few of my graphics, commented on basically all of my things. But after I read messages from her this morning, I looked through all of my graphics to make sure they were up to standard, and I notice that all the comments from her on all the icons she had commented on had gone! I only have one comment from her on a banner now, and I know for a FACT I had more than one comment from her. HELL, I even thing she commented on one of the graphics she accepted and then rejected!

And why reject a graphic a few days after its accepted?! You either accept it or you dont..! It cant been good one day and not the next! I thought this was over (You remember a while back when there was a massive clearout? Well basically all my graphics that were accepted, were rejected, apart from 1, which was the worst icon i ever made.. WTH?!) and that the mods were better now!

Im really sorry for the majorly long post, but im pretty upset that what I was told to be a good icon, was rejected a few days after acceptance. And you know what.. its put me off createblog again. Im sick of it. Most people who randomly browse createblog, just want a nice icon and whatnot. I remember when I first found it and I knew nothing about graphic, I didnt even notice the quality..!
Createblog just seems to be one big competition between designers now. Even some of the most favourite graphics arent the best quality in the world.. doesnt this tell you something?

Kudos to anyone who reads this, and again, sorry for the majorly long post, but I just need to vent my anger.

Graphic mods: I do respect the work you do..and that it takes time to go through all submisions, but if its not good enough.. why accept it in the first place..? You obviously didnt see any problem when you accepted it, so obviously the "problem" isnt all that noticeable after all.

I totally agree. Some things of mine got accepted, then rejected again. And its irritating. Or some things get rejected, I fix them to their standards, and the first one I put up gets accepted a week later, and the same layout I worked extra hard on and recoded gets denied. Whats up with that? I think we need some new MODs cause this is irritating as hell.

I went through some of your stuff that had been rejected, and I actually accepted some of the ones that I thought were good and had already received positive responses from some of the members. Natalia (manny-the-dino), I apologize for going over your head and I appreciate you owning up to what you thought was a mistake, so please don't take it personally.

I apologize for the back-and-forth over the submissions, this is something that I don't like to see happening. We are working on getting closer to being on the same page; however, I am sorry to say that it won't always be that way - there are some mods who will review things differently. In the future, though, as I've said in another thread, design staff will not go into the queue and reject something that another mod has accepted. If they feel like it should be done, they will bring it up to a head staff member or administrator, and if that upper staff member feels like it honestly should be rejected, they will take care of it - however, I don't want to see this happening anymore. Unless it's a really big deal, all decisions will be final.

This doesn't have to do with the quality of the moderators. It has to do with, yes, all the non-People Staff staffies being on the same page in terms of acceptance standards. Currently we're trying to coordinate those Backstage. As Dani (libertie) said, we are going to stop having one mod accept something but have a different mod reject it. Instead, accepting and rejecting a particular submission will be done by the same moderator to promote consistency.

no it's okay Dani. don't worry. _smile.gif

but to address your post, fazzyfaye, yes i did accept some of your stuff & rejected it. i apologized for that but we had to do some "house cleaning" as some have said. in order to see the grainyness/blurness of the graphic you posted you do have to really look at it, but if it doesn't meet our standards, we can't accept it. it "basically has to perfect" as one mod told me. just please read through our standards before making or submitting anything.

and as for me deleting my comments from your graphics, i honestly didn't. i really didn't. why would i do that? i mean if i accept your graphics, comment them, delete my comments, & reject your graphics... i don't see the use of doing that. it just makes no sense.

see as you can see I wasnt the only person who is overwhelminly annoyed with this kind of practice by the mods, I rarealy even want to contribute to this community anymore because it gets really annoying when for a couple days you get really nice comments and messages then all of a sudden it just abruptly stops because ONE person dosent like it and that ONE person gets the prvallage of getting MOD. I hate it when people message me asking "oo where did this or that layout go, I cant seem to find it" I have to reply "sorry it was rejected" - then I have to pull up the code individually for ever person who asks, after my incident I have seriously lost ALOT of interest in contributing to this community anymore unless I get REALLY bored, and I have already seen ALOT of post, threads like this already and since this is thread came after my thread I am disappointed to see that the mods are partly just completely ignoring my opinion from my HOT thread. NICE JOB SERIOUSLY, KUDOS X 100

- sorry Im usually not like this but this whole accpeting and rejecting this is getting on my nerves and I just need to vent . :/ stubborn.gif blink.gif biggrin.gif blink.gif

yes i know this get annoying but it's not that one mod doesn't like it, it's that we have renforce our standards. please don't feel discouraged from subitting your designs. if you're a little iffy on them, just post in the Showcase Booth to get opinions. yay? yay. biggrin.gif

Because that solves everything.

Are the standards of some set higher than others? Because that's not how it should run.

My solution: Democracy. Have the mods vote if something needs to be deleted.

Or everyone could just shut the fuck up and not get so butthurt and make 12 million topics over this was accepted and now it's rejected. It's even more annoying to see this constant bitching.

DEAL WITH IT! It happens!

None, because they'd rather get all butthurt and cry for attention, claiming they'll never submit again. Who really cares?

Yeah strangely alot of people are like that.

I don't think anybody really cares if they will submit again. I don't even use the resource sections anymore.

why are you here on CB anyway? all you do is constant bitching, you dont even contribute layouts or anything [not that you have to ] but if you have so many things to complain about then why dont you just go to a different forum thats ment for you?

Why does this question always come up? Apparently, were all here to pass time. So, why does it matter what one does with their time? If anything, we should ask if you have anything better to do than constantly bitch about what other people do with their time because it's not up to your standards as a superior.

Kevin, I'm sorry if you feel like you've been ignored. I believe I posted in the topic you made, although I can't find it now. However, you're right, this is an issue that keeps being brought up - all I can do is apologize and say that I don't want it happening to this degree anymore. If you'll look at my posts in both this thread in the other one, I think you'll see that this is not so much the fault of the newer mods. They're simply doing what they've been told, and I was unaware that it had gone this far.

Nat, the person who told you that submissions basically have to be perfect was wrong. I hate to look at it that way, because around here I have never rejected something because of one little thing like a single stray jagged line that only I would notice. Of course our standards should be high, but we honestly need to know when to let things slide.
