Ugh. I was into Twilight for like... a few months. Since then, I've realized just how much I hate it. It's really nothing but really bad, vampire fanfiction and is shittier than shitty stories you can find on fictionpress.com.

The editors are terrible - how many freaking typos can there possibly be in a book?

And the characters! What the f**k is up with the characters?! Edward is way too cheesy and idealistic for his own good. He comes, goes, does this, does that, and in the end, is essentially what a woman thinks a man should be. If I ever met a guy like Edward, I probably wouldn't go out of my way to be his friend. And what the f**k at Bella. She's a spineless, stubborn, incredibly stupid character who really can't make good decisions. f**k Bella.

And vampires can't control somebody's minds and can only control bodies? That's bullshit, too. There's really no fine line between body and mind. Emotions are not just a bodily function, there very heavily set and controlled in different parts of the brain. And the mind? Everything you do to the body effects the mind. The mind, itself, is a result of biology, chemistry, psychology. Anything that happens mentally has to do with the body.

UGHafasd;fkj.

I hate this book and can't stand the hype about it.

lol I admit that the books aren't exactly literature... but neither are lots of books that people love like Harry Potter. What I think makes them amazing is how they tug at your heartstrings. Edward might be cheesy to some, but he's perfect to me tongue.gif And of course it's fantasy, so I give lots of leeway in terms of drama and such.

You're right, vampires can't control someone's mind and control bodies. That's the difference between traditional vampires and vampires of this book. These vampires aren't suppose to be your back-in-the-day-let's-get-roasted-when-the-sun-comes-up. And I also agree with you on the body and mind.

Let's remember however that the Twilight series is more of a fiction novel then anything else. It may not be real literature, but it's something that we all can escape too.

This is kind of off topic but I was just wondering... Edward can read minds, and at the least Rosalie is supposed to just be extremely pretty. What exactly is Esme's special power?

You completely misunderstood me. In an interview with Meyer, she wrote that her vampires can control and affect the body, but couldn't control the mind. I'm saying that to say something like that is contradictory in itself AND in her novels. I get that these vamps aren't your run-of-the-mill vampires, but I'm pretty much pissed that the creator of these vampires can't even get her facts and ideas straight.

There is a character that can create the illusion in one's mind that they are physically in pain. She does it to Edward in New Moon and to a rabid young vampire in Eclipse.

Stephanie can be a little cryptic in her interviews, especially since the series isn't quite finished (the last book will be out in August).

The only character that is entirely immune to anything dealing with the mind is Bella. Edward cannot read her mind, Aro cannot read the history in her mind and Jane is unable to affect her. I'm wondering if Bella was who she was referring to when she said that vampires only affect the body because in Bella's case, that is entirely true. No one knows why yet, although many characters are curious as to what her post vamp ability would be, since the superfluous abilities that vampires sometimes attain is directly linked to certain gifts they have as humans. Bella's mind is extraordinarily private which is why, some speculate, mind type abilities have no effect on her.
Reason for edit: lol randomly fixed typos/misuse of words and overdid it with commas. :X

There are a few, from what I've heard but I have yet to notice them. Then again, I'm typically so absorbed that I more than likely just pass over them.

Off site, nope. Everyone I know that has read it, loves it. Hell, my sister already finished Twilight and is borrowing New Moon when she comes to visit from CA next week. (I'll have to do my weekly re-read of the last few chapters before she gets here. XD)

Has anyone ever listened to any of the books on CD? I acquired Twilight on CD, put it in my iPod and YUCK. The reader is terrible. She pronounces "Volvo", "Valvo". She has this odd accent. It's terrible. She ruins the entire vibe. I'm going to record myself reading it instead.

edit: Fabulous touch with the bears. Should get some with fangs on it or something. Some Edward Cullen bears.
