It depends, really. For the most part, the internet shouldn't be taken too seriously. I only get really, really angry or upset if someone brings my son up for no reason, other than to insult me or belittle him in some way. Other than that, I'll get annoyed, sometimes flustered but that's the extent of it.

for me, I don't take forums seriously at all. why? because it doesn't consume my life. it's just a good way to direct procrastination.

If this question is still being answered, I think it depends on what you're refering to online...like buying things or forums. If you screw up and start buying numerous things with your credit card then, yeah, the internet can be serious business. But forums, although it can be strict here and there, should be fun.

It depends. Assuming you're reffering specifically to forums, if I care about the people I'm interacting with at the time, then yes, I'll take it seriously. If not, no. Which is true of everything, really, not just the internet.

sometimes i take it seriously. but once im off the computer, its not serious anymore =P

but that only goes for people i dont now irl. when i talk to people irl online, i do take it seriously.

You know, in a lot of cases things that happen on the internet are not to be taken seriously. However, there are times when things can get rather personal and it's perfectly reasonable to get upset and let it affect you. If you're a decent person, you know when to realize that you've affected someone negatively in a very personal way and you'll stop. Unfortunately, most of the time we aren't that lucky and we just end up with someone who can't just go away and leave us alone.
