In the bay area of California, a mini earthquake strike but it felt strong. (A couple months ago) Somewhere around a 3.7-4.1 I believe? I forgot.
According to the article, it says there is a chance that it might hit 6.7 magnitude sometime the next 30 years. That's pretty damn scary. Especially the fact that it had killed people in the past. QUOTE The 1994 Northridge earthquake under Los Angeles' San Fernando Valley was magnitude 6.7. It killed 72 people, injured more than 9,000 and caused $25 billion in damage in the metropolitan area. Yeah I definitely felt that earthquake back in October(?). And uhhh, a 6.7? Time to move to Asia ):
Plus I live right next to the Hayward fault (Calaveras!!!). More ): ): ): ): ): QUOTE The odds of such an event are higher in Southern California than Northern California, 97 percent versus 93 percent. "It basically guarantees it's going to happen," said Ned Field... SCARY |

I f**kING LIVE ON THE FAULT. when it hits, I'm gonna get eaten by the earth. ![]() Oh em gee! ![]() I did a case study on California's tectonic activity back in college and they're pretty overdue for a biggie. That's a scary thought. Still, what with that massive volcano beneath Yellowstone overdue for erruption by 60,000 or so years... |

I remember that, from a few months ago. I'm right on the fault. Anything less would be letting geology win.
If something big strikes, hopefully I get something cool out of it, like a volcano sprouting through my room or something. |

Cali isn't going to float away. The whole world is going to hell, but it's been going to hell for thousands of years.
Kinda related to this topic, there was a quake last night/this morning and I guess people around here felt it. I didn't though, I was busy sleeping. |

right, so, we all heard about the earthquakes friday, correct?
well i was watching the news, and i only caught a bit of it, but they were talking about increased activity here means increased activity in the california area. they said, and i quote, "the california area will begin to see activity shortly after the new madrid activity". kinda dumb, IMO. |
