Yep, been a fan for well over a decade. I remember when some of these guys didn't even have a label. laugh.gif

Massive Attack is amazing. I always have an MA cd on hand. Sneaker Pimps are cool, but I'd consider them more pop trip-hop at this point. Bjork is more than one genre really, but trip-hop I can see working as a catagory for her, especially after Homogenic.

Portishead. I don't even know where to begin. Beth Gibbons is outstanding. This big voice coming out of little bitty body (I've seen them live). Only You is still such a trippy song to me and Glory Box, to this day is the best, most understated statement of a strong female stance ever.

Morcheeba holds one of my favorite songs, ever: The Sea. I heard them live (didn't see them :( ) when they played on KCRW Morning Becomes Eclectic a long time ago. Skye Edwards' voice just oozes sexuality. Too bad she left the group.

My girlfriend actually got me into Trip-Hop since I told her I was getting tired of rock. She gave me a huge list of bands and groups. I like it so far so good.

What else I really like about trip-hop music is that the female leads have such uniquely beautiful voices... love love LOVE Esthero, Morcheeba, and Portishead. What lovely vocals!

A must listen:
"Final Home" - DJ Krush ft. Esthero

I love the song "6 Underground" by Sneaker Pimps...and I like that song, "Cowboys" by Portishead, but that's kind of the extent of my trip-hop I'm guessing? Yeah, sad, I know.

Esthero, yeah she's from my city...I remember her from that song with Jarvis Church, "Run For Your Life"...I want to take a listen to her "Wikked Lil' Grrrls" album, I heard some hype on that around town awhile back. Must check these suggestions out :)

^ Becoming X, in my opinion was just a ho-hum release. However, when they released Becoming Remixed, I really think the songs just came alive. Post-Modern Sleaze [Reprazent Mix] is just amazing to listen to and the original version of Spin Spin Sugar doesn't even hold a candle to Armand's Dark Garage Mix (which is typically the version you hear at clubs).

Damn, you busted out UNKLE. <3

I like them all, but bolded my favorites. I do admit though, that I have a hard time getting completely absorbed with Thievery Corporation for some reason.

Of course, I love acid jazz. You can partially thank Gilles Peterson for that. He "introduced" me to UFO (United Future Organization) and I've been hooked ever since.

Haha. Trip hop has been around longer than the popular coined "emo" has. I'm 32, never emo, never homo. LOL

To each their own, for sure. But you can come up with something better than that. :P

You know, my first reaction was going to be "so what, to you, sounds like emo/homo?" Then I thought, ya know, he's just going to say something thing like "trip hop sounds like that". Heh
