Ironic how the internet can bring people closer together when you're hardly making any physical contact or seeing them.

Mhm. It's a lot easier to get to know someone for the first time online, 'cause then it's not filled with awkward silences and such. Like, unless you REALLY kick it off the first time you talk to them and have like a zillion things in common to talk about, you're pretty much screwed. But online, there's more time to respond and think of something to say. It's just easier.

it's easier to relate to people on the internet and you can tell them other things you don't tell people irl because you pretty much have nothing to lose. (most of the time)

I think that holds true to people I meet online and people I know IRL. It's easier.. Plus, you have the power of the backspace key. victory.gif

Don't take him seriously. It's very difficult to do so.

It's easier because if people haven't seen our pictures, they can't judge! Well, at least it starts out that way. :P I agree with the backspace thing.

Also, if you meet someone on a forum that you frequent or a game that you often play, it shows that they have similar interests as you. thumbsup.gif I mean, in real life, you have to actually ask them abuot what they like. shrug.gif

I have a couple close internet friends. It's on more of a personal level than most people think when they think of an internet friend. You usually end up having longer conversations too. If you're in IMs and don't want to talk about something, just don't reply. The perfect relationship, haha.

I have this pretty close friend I met online like three years ago. We actually like, explain who everyone in our lives are and such. It's kinda cool, 'cause I can tell her things that I can't tell my irl friends.

We call each other our IFFLs.

True story. Sometimes, I even slip and tell things to online friends that my physical friends IRL don't know.

Yeah like a lot of people said, its because of the time lapse between responses, the backspace key, and whatnot that make it easier to talk to people online, and also what Christina said about already having similar interests.

My boyfriend gets mad at me whenever I backspace.

But yeah, the internet brings you closer together I guess because you can think about what you're gonna say, and know that whatever you say, the other person can't really do much about it lol.
