OMG i was totally thinking of this like 3 weeks ago. and alternate version of alice of wonderland,
several years ago they made a PC game called alice i think, it was like a horror game but based off of alice in wonderland. i totally would see this, but tim burton, ehhhh, maybe. I want it scary and creepy though. not psycho like willy wonka factory |

He's just going to make more weird and dark than it needs to be. Where the f**k are all these "weird" and "dark" Burton films everyone keeps talking about? Like, do you guys just sit inside all the time watching afternoon television? Wait, the f**k would that do?! Afternoon TV is darker and weirder than Tim Burton... f**k! Maybe, before I could feed myself, Burton was a bit "dark" and "weird," but, even then, he was nothing in comparison to Cronenberg, Lynch, Franco, Haneke, or a million other well established directors. |

I actually think it'll be pretty interesting. I thought that (as far as animated films go...) The Corpse Bride was pretty good and if you separate his Charlie and the Chocolate Factory from the original version (i.e. dont even try to compare Johnny Depp's Wonka with Gene Wilder's) it was also a fairly decent film.
I definitly can't wait to see a dark + twisty Alice and Wonderland ![]() |

Don't hurt me, but I think it would be interesting to see what he comes out with. Alice in Wonderland is one of my favorite movies and it's so trippy...he could do a lot with it.

are you majoring in film biz? your very opinionated and know a lot about movies.... just wondering, your very passionate in your posts lol. Unfortunately, no. I'm going to be majoring in philosophy. I might minor in some sort of film studies, but I'm really not entirely sure what all I want to do. But, I love film, and I make it an effort to be passionate about those things that I love. Nah, he's just an arrogant dick. (just kidding, Nate) :P Yes, ahhh ha ha! |

Charlie and the Chocolate factory was terrible, yes....but what was wrong with Sweeney Todd? Personally, I thought that movie was amazing and I went and saw it twice.
Who else could do Alice justice? I mean, Tim Burton is pretty weird. Alice in Wonderland is pretty weird. Seems like a good match to me. |

i don't think you guys understand. alice in wonderland is a satire. the book was written in 1865 poking fun at the government. dont get me wrong, i liked the disney version, but it was never supposed to made into a children's movie. also, i dont think i could stand anymore of these goth wannabes talking about how f**king fantastic and dark tim burton is.

In 1865 I doubt it was ever meant to be turned into any sort of film, let alone a children's movie. But, for me, that's beyond the point. The film(s) and the book are completely different entities, it isn't like an adaptation has to be so similar to its source material in order to be good. Secondly, it isn't like Tim Burton's adaptation will be the second... there are tons and tons of adaptations of Alice in Wonderland. I've seen a few that are weirder and darker, far beyond anything Burton could even ever dream up. So, yeah, Burton sucks. |

i disagree. almost every time i read a book and then watch a movie, vice versa, i'm disappointed. maybe that's just me. Why would anyone aspire to make a film adaptation exactly like a book? I just think it's sort of unimaginative and boring. And, really, what's the point? If the two are "identical," why bother? I suppose I understand it on some points, but, the reality of the matter is that an adapted piece of work is a separate entity in comparison to its source material (to try to argue that point is futile). And, really, they both should be judged independently of one another. I don't give a f**k if something is more like one thing than another... I give a f**k if it's good or not (isn't that what really matters?). |

Can I just say...
Pee-Wee's Big Adventure was the darkest, most occultish movie I have ever seen. |

I don't mind Burton so much. But he did Edward Scissorhands and everyone think he is the master of the occult.
HE DIRECTED MARS ATTACKS! I'm sorry he's just not dark at all. Not that I don't love most of his movies. I never really paid any attention to his directing. |

Well books are inherently not cinematic, and movies are inherently not literary. Making a movie exactly like a book is nearly impossible for the pure reason of perspective. Books and their plot, character development, etc, its revealed in a far different way than movies are. Not to mention that books can have plots which are absolutely enthralling while being read, but if put on screen would be terribly boring. It's just not possible. |

Understood that movies will never be an exact replica of a book its based on, but I find myself comparing as well. I'm not overly critical when I compare the two, I just can't help myself.
Small things annoy me, like Faramir and Eowyn getting less screen time when nearly an entire chapter is devoted to them in the LOTR books while Aragorn and Arwen had things literally made up to fill screen time. Again, annoying to me but the movies are still enjoyable to watch. It's a shallow comparison, but my feeble attempt to make a point. I'm able to separate the two mediums enough to enjoy both a book and a film adaptation. That being said, I would rather see someone like Alfonso Cuarón direct an Alice in Wonderland adaptation. |

Like Beetlejuice, and Pee Wee's Big Adventure? Un-f**king-likely. Tim Burton hasn't made a good movie since I could take a shit on my own. rofl. funny ^.^. I can't believe you actually said Beetlejuice was good. It was the worst movie I've ever seen. I even posted it on the "worst movie ever" thread.. --All of tim burton's films SUCK |
